This car is mentioned in some detail in a letter from the then owner, Brian Dodd, in "Jaguar Driver" magazine November 1982. He bought it in Kenya in 1978, with the registration number KBK 555. and arranged for it to be brought back to England. Colour was white.

Further to the above "Jaguar Driver" reference there is mention of this car in a letter to the magazine March 1983 issue from Allan Hodge of Jaguar Cars Ltd. He says that Jaguar records show the original colour of the car as Cream with Biscuit and Red interior. The soft top colour was Fawn. The Despatch date was 6 December 1951 to Lowis & Hodgkiss Distributor (no address). He also stated that he was born and bred in Kenya and comments on the use of Jaguars in that country and confirms KBK 555 was a Kenya registration number.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
