This 1952 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe is a non-running project that was acquired by the selling dealer from its long-term previous owner in October 2021. The car was completed on March 14, 1952, and distributed in the US through Hoffman Jaguar of New York. Equipment includes a 3.4-liter inline-six, a four-speed manual transmission, dual SU carburetors, 16″ steel wheels, rear wheel spats, and rear bumperettes. This XK120 project is now offered in Massachusetts at no reserve with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, service manuals, historical photos, and a Wisconsin title.
The car left the factory finished in silver and is said to have been repainted in red prior to the 1960s. Exterior details include a split windshield, rear rear wheel spats, and dual exhaust outlets. Flaking, wear, rust, and dents are visible throughout the body, and the chrome bumper, rear bumperettes, and trim are pitted.
White-finished 16″ steel wheels show corrosion and are mounted with older Dunlop tires. The car was factory equipped with four-wheel drum brakes.
The cockpit features a split bench seat trimmed in torn gray vinyl. Appointments include a dash-mounted rearview mirror and quarter vent windows. There are cracks in the burl wood dashboard, the carpet is frayed and torn, and corrosion is present throughout the cabin.
A four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation that includes centrally mounted auxiliary gauges flanked by a 140-mph speedometer and a reverse-sweep tachometer with an inset clock. The five-digit odometer shows 54k miles, and true mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter inline-six is reported to turn freely and features double overhead camshafts as well as dual SU carburetors.
The car is equipped with a four-speed manual transmission. Rust is present on the frame, underbody, and various components.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate shows factory colors and identification numbers along with a build date of May 14, 1952.
The data plate shows chassis number 679696 as well as identification numbers for the body, engine, and gearbox.
An Assigned Vehicle Identification Number from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is affixed to the body. The engine number – W49288 – is listed under Additional Vehicle Details on the current Wisconsin title.
