• Concours-quality restoration by a marque expert

• Discreet performance upgrades

• 5-speed gearbox upgraded conversion

• Disc brakes

The past owner purchased this XK140 in 2009 from a long-time owner who had the Jaguar for the past 40 years, since 1969. A concours restoration was done by XK's Unlimited in San Luis Obispo, California over a 3-year period. Finished in a classic color combination of Black with a Biscuit leather interior and a Black soft top. The paint and bodywork are in perfect condition along with the panel fit. The interior is immaculate with Wilton wool carpets and Connolly leather. The original Smith gauges were restored by West Valley Instrument Specialists, Inc in Reseda, California. No expense was spared with receipts exceeding $100,000. Everything was completely rebuilt. Chassis upgrades are also quite extensive and include Wilwood front disc brakes, a manual 5-speed full synchro transmission, a large alloy radiator, an alloy fuel tank, and an alloy flywheel, which all add to the improvement of the overall drivability. The quality of the restoration is very apparent and even on the underside, which is fully detailed.

The engine was completely disassembled and stripped down to the block, the block was then Magnaflux to check for any cracks and then acid dipped. The machine work was done by Martin Davidsons Automotive Machine shop. The crank was standard, and new bearings, pistons, rods, and gaskets were installed. The 3.4 liter inline-6 is perfectly detailed, with the correct red cylinder head that was unique to the C-Type engines. The 5-speed manual transmission has full synchromesh with close ratios and a shorter throw for a smooth shifting experience. Equipped with canvas soft top, side curtains, 16'' chrome wire wheels, and tonneau cover. Complete with tools, books, extensive restoration receipts, and a spare wheel. Well-equipped with numerous desirable options truly in outstanding condition. Ready to enjoy on tours, taking on the challenge of thousand-mile rallies, any vintage motoring event, or local concours events.

Car returns to ebay 5/11/23

www.ebay.com/itm/134567630209

Car has a buy it now price of $184,950 for 6 days, seller parkplaceltd, 700 miles recorded, car now in Bellevue, Washington, previously Costa Mesa, California

Seller's description:

Prior to the car’s restoration in the early 2010s, this XK140 had been with the same owner in Southern California since 1969 and proved an excellent starting point for the job at hand. During the restoration, every piece of the car was handled by true professionals, including a full engine rebuild where the block was Magnafluxed to check for any stress cracking prior to being acid dipped. Although you can’t tell from the outside, this XK140 is equipped with a number of very desirable upgrades like front Wilwood disc brakes, a full synchro 5-speed manual gearbox and alloy radiator, flywheel, and fuel tank. All of these modifications don’t drastically alter the classic driving experience you would hope for with an XK140 but make it more usable and enjoyable when on your favorite backroad.

One of the most impressive parts of this XK140 is the gorgeous biscuit leather interior. The leather covers the seats, doors, and dash, while the Wilton Wool carpets look like they’ve been barely used. A 4-spoke wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel has been installed along with a matching wood shift knob and the burl wood dash panel has a deep, gloss finish that makes the grain of the wood look truly outstanding. Inside of this dash panel sits a suite of Smiths gauges that were completely restored by West Valley Instrument Specialists in Reseda, CA and both look great and operate as they should. What really separates the XK140 from its predecessor the XK120 is the extra interior room and the leg room under the dashboard in particular, making it far more comfortable to sit in and drive.

If you are someone who wants to collect only the best of the best, this XK140 MC is the right car to put in your garage. Thanks to the careful and costly restoration, this car will be just as capable on a Jaguar Club drive as it would be on the show field and saves you from having to deal with the time-consuming and costly restoration process. Offered in a stunning color combination, if you want to experience the epitome of classic British motoring, look no further.

This 1957 Jaguar XK140 MC roadster was completed on January 23, 1957 and distributed in the US through Jaguar Cars of New York. It was refurbished during previous ownership between 2010 and 2013 by XK’s Unlimited of San Luis Obispo, California, and work included a repaint in black, along with installing a five-speed manual transmission, Wilwood front disc brakes, and an aluminum radiator. Additional equipment includes a black soft top, dual SU carburetors, Lucas front driving lamps, and knock-off wire wheels. This XK140 was acquired by the current owner in early 2023 and is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer in Bellevue, Washington with a Production Record Trace certificate, records from the refurbishment, manufacturer’s literature, removable side curtains, and a clean Montana title.

The car was finished from the factory in Cream and was repainted in black during the aforementioned refurbishment. Details include a black soft top, Lucas front driving lamps, and a two-piece windshield. A black tonneau cover and a pair of removable side curtains will accompany the vehicle.

Chrome wire wheels are secured by knock-off spinners and mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. A matching spare is housed in the trunk. Wilwood front disc brakes were installed during the refurbishment, and the car rides on Spax Krypton shock absorbers.

The interior was re-trimmed with tan leather upholstery and a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Appointments include a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a passenger grab handle, map pockets, and a wood shift knob.

A wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel sits ahead of a central instrument panel housing Smiths instrumentation that was reportedly refurbished by West Valley Instrument Specialists of Reseda, California. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 700 miles, around 100 of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 3.4-liter inline-six features dual SU carburetors and was reportedly rebuilt during the refurbishment. An aluminum fuel tank and an aluminum radiator with an electric fan have been installed.

A five-speed manual synchromesh transmission and a lightweight flywheel were installed during the refurbishment. Additional underbody images are provided in the gallery below, along with a handful of photos taken prior to the refurbishment.

The Production Record Trace certificate show the factory colors and identification numbers along with a completion date of January 23, 1957.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
