Car to be at auction 3/10
www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php

Auction description:
Lot 221
Registration Number: 663 UXW
Chassis Number: 5830034

Offered from the collection of Eric Jackson, 1964 British Rally Champion, this XK150 is described as being in excellent condition throughout. First registered with its current registration number in 1990 (after the car’s extensive restoration), it was purchased by Mr Jackson from John James, XK Club Representative for Wales, who campaigned the car on numerous occasions at XK Club events.

Finished in black with a grey leather interior, this XK150 Roadster is not only in superb condition, but is described by Mr Jackson as "The fastest XK I have ever driven” – high praise from a former British Rally Champion!

Estimate: £50000 - £65000

Additional description provided by the XK Gazette, Market Observer:

UK reg 663 UXW (was XKM 66) returned to UK in 1988 when it began an extensive restoration. A number of English XK luminaries have had this one such as Kit Constable – Maxwell, Anthony Barker and the current XK Club “Our man in South & Mid Wales “ John James before the, at least, equally distinguished vendor today, Eric Jackson. He was a successful rally competitor for 20 years until the mid 1970s with nine consecutive Monte Carlo rallies, The London to Capetown record in 1963 and British Rally Champion in 1964 to mention a few.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
