Auction description:
The Monterey Sports and Classic Car Auction
Friday, August 13, 2004 - Saturday, August 14, 2004 [Print]
1959 Jaguar XK 150S Roadster
ESTIMATE: $125,000 - $150,000
CHASSIS NO: S830855
Undoubtedly One of The Finest Restored Examples of its Kind
250hp 3,442 cc dual overhead camshafts inline six-cylinder with triple S.U. carburetors, four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, four-wheel independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. Wheelbase: 102"
The beautiful Cotswold blue Roadster offered here is likely one of the finest restored examples of its kind, without argument. The Jaguar is truly in JCNA show condition having benefited from a no-expense-spared restoration by a California marque specialist. The body was stripped to bare metal with all exterior panels being completely refinished, epoxy sealed, painted with base coat, clear coat then color sanded and buffed repeatedly to an amazing shine and appearance. All rubber and seals throughout the entire car are all new, as is the Stayfast top and immaculate interior. Every detail and item on the car is correct and authentic in its restoration or as a replacement part.
The impressive 3.4 liter engine was also treated to the same care and attention as the rest of the car utilizing the original matching numbers block and head and finished to never before seen standards. Fully calibrated and mechanically sorted, the Jaguar has traveled less than 100 miles since the completion of the restoration earlier this year. The Cotswold blue paintwork and red leather interior are a perfect match and illuminate the car’s handsome lines and elegant factory coachwork beautifully.
Documented as a factory S model, complete with all its matching numbers components, this Jaguar XK 150 S is like none other we have had the pleasure of offering here at Monterey. The current owner reports that in addition to photos of the restoration, the Jaguar is complete with a CD movie documenting much of the work and restoration. This 1959 XK 150 S offers its next owners the unique and special opportunity of owning one of the most evolved postwar sports cars ever built in better than brand new condition, as either an unbeatable show winner or fantastic driver with only break-in miles.
