This 1960 Jaguar XK150 S fixed-head coupe was sold new by Chipstead Motors Ltd. in London, England, and was later exported to New Zealand where it was acquired by the current owner’s father first in 1979 and again in 2010. It was then imported into the US by the owner in 2013. The car is finished in British Racing Green over green leather and powered by a numbers-matching 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes triple SU carburetors, chrome 16″ knock-off wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a heater, a PerTronix ignition system, and a Motorola radio. Work carried out in February 2022 consisted of replacing the starter, upper ball joints, tie rod ends, and steering rack mounts. This XK150 S is now offered on dealer consignment in New York with service records, Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, a tool kit, historic documents, and a clean California title.

The exterior is finished in British Racing Green and features chrome bumpers and trim, S badging on the doors, and dual exhaust outlets. Areas of the car were reportedly refinished under previous ownership, and the seller notes color differences across the panels. Stone chips, dings, and scratches are also noted.

Chrome 16″ knock-off wire wheels were fitted with Coker Classic tires in 2021. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs, and service at Auto Turismo Sport of New Milford, Connecticut in February 2022 included replacing the upper ball joints, tie rod ends, and steering rack mounts.

The four-place cabin features green leather seats along with matching door panels, a two-tone dashboard, and gray carpets. Additional features include a heater, tinted sun visors, a locking glove compartment, and an aftermarket Motoradio radio. The driver’s seat was repaired in February 2022, and wear is noted on the leather.

The four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths gauges including a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an inset clock, an ammeter, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 39k miles, though total chassis mileage is unknown.

The 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six was rated at 265 horsepower when new and features triple SU carburetors and an aftermarket PerTronix ignition system. Records indicate the engine was rebuilt in 2015 by Auto Turismo Sport after a valve guide dislodged and contacted a piston. A high-torque starter was installed in February 2022.

Engine number VAS 1056-9 is stamped on the cylinder head and engine block. Both stamps match the number listed on the chassis plate and the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the image gallery.

A tool kit is included in the sale along with service records and purchase invoices.

A selection of historic racing photos and documents are also included in the sale.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate lists factory colors, equipment, and serial numbers as well as the dates of manufacture and dispatch.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
