The car was sold new Bill Leech in Melbourne and is one of four XK150s owned by the Leech brothers. Despatched 30 October 1960. Red in colour and traded in early 1961 on a new E-Type FHC (#166). Sold into South Australia. Purchased by Ian McColl in Melbourne who owned it for many years. New owner early in 2019 still in Melbourne. Pristine original and very low mileage.

MELBOURNE DELIVERED, TOP SPEC & LOW MILEAGE

This Australian delivered Jaguar XK150S Fixed Head Coupe presents beautifully as a wonderfully unmolested example with less than 62000 miles showing on the odometer. Finished in Carmen Red, with Biscuit Interior, the cockpit presenting as original without alteration or refurbishment, its original condition in keeping with the odometer reading. According to the accompanying Heritage Certificate it was built on 18 August 1960 and dispatched to Bryson Australia in Melbourne on 5 October 1960. It is believed to be one of only six XK150S models sold new in the period and featured the 265 BHP 3.8 Litre ‘S’ spec engine wearing Triple 2"SU Carburettors along with the 4 Speed Gearbox with Overdrive and 4 Wheel Disc Brakes. The first owner of the XK150S was Leech. Bill and his brother Jim had for many years been heavily involved in motorsport through their association with the LCCA(Light Car Club of Australia). The XK150 subsequently saw its first competition outing at Rob Roy Hillclimb on 19 April 1961. It is understood that the exhaust system was modified by Bill with Twin Outlets exiting together on the Left Hand Side, a feature which it still retains today. The XK150S was sold around 1963 to a Devisham of Mt Barker SA who held the Jaguar until he died suddenly in 1964, then being purchased by Ian McColl and registered in Victoria as JBF610. Ian McColl owned the XK150 for some 52 years before it was acquired by his nephew David L. who has owned the Jaguar for a further 8 years. During the last 60 years of ownership the XK150S has been used infrequently and when so, only for longer runs, thus preserving its excellent mechanical condition and presentation. During his custody of the Jaguar, Ian McColl undertook routine servicing himself, whilst David L. entrusted the XK150 to The for service and maintenance repairs. A Comprehensive History File accompanies this very special XK150S, it contains a Heritage Certificate confirming the Original Build Information, a Receipt File for Service, Maintenance & Mechanical Repairs and various Historical Photographs. The XK150 has valuable mentions in the classic reference book "The Jaguar XK in Australia". The XK150S drives as you would expect for a Grand Touring car of the period, with an Abundance of Torque providing Wonderful Flexibility throughout the range. The 4 Speed Gearbox and Overdrive provide Perfect Ratios for extracting good period performance for more Spirited Driving or relaxed Long Legged Cruising if required. The Dunlop 4 Wheel Disc Brakes give Good Braking Performance whilst the Rack and Pinion Steering helps point the Jaguar precisely. The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
