it is strange that in 2015 a restorer can do a so bad job : the seats are horribly and wrongly "fluted", the "nose" under the grille is really too much prominent, the piping is missing under the dash, the red air filters are ridiculous ( these are also the "late" filters ), the tall dash carbs were mounted not in this period , even if they are nice- old item. The wheels should be body color.
Probably it could be an "american job" ?

Tall dashpot carbs are correct for this car.

tall dashpot carbs are on earlier 1950 cars, but not so very bad for this period. Originally till May 1950.

2016-03-23 10:13:06 | early 120 writes:

Mr. DeBacker is right about the tall carbs anonymous. The tall carbs, the cam covers without front studs, and also the black-coloured engine bay, all continued for quite a bit longer than just the alloy cars. Where are you getting your information from? It is not correct.

2016-03-23 15:03:55 | Michael DeBacker writes:

From my research tall cars were on cars through somewhere around 670800 (for left hand drive cars), for the next 100 or so cars they were either tall or short depending on what Jaguar received from SU, after that they were all short. "Studless" cam covers were through late 1951 and black was used in the engine bay (and boot) until the factory switched to enamel paint in early 1952.

2016-03-23 15:18:05 | Michael DeBacker writes:

Should say "From my research tall carbs were on all cars through..." aren't word processers that "correct" words for us automatically wonderful...

This beautiful XK120 Roadster - or Open Two-Seater as officially called in the day - first roared to life inside Jaguar's Coventry facility on August 31st, 1950. Originally finished in Birch Grey over a Biscuit and Red interior and Frech Grey convertible top, this left-hand drive Roadster was destined for the American market to where it was dispatched on September 7th, 1950. Initially distributed by East Coast agent Max Hoffman in New York City, the car was sold to its first owner through Geo J Lenz Automobiles in Niagara Falls, New York.

Retaining its original engine, the Jaguar was subsequently restored and refinished in red. The black leather interior was retrimmed in 2015—including new hides, carpets, and dash—at a reported cost of $8,000, but no receipts are included. Driveability improvements include 12-volt electronics, uprated cooling system with an electric fan, and a set of new Firestone tires that were fitted in March of this year.

Documented by its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate and a selection of service records, it is a lovely machine that would make a fine tour vehicle for its next lucky owner.
