This original left-hand-drive XK120 SE Fixed Head Coupe was built to an order originating from Los Angeles-based Jaguar distributor Charles Hornburg and completed on October 24, 1952. Issued the export license number MRW 422 by Jaguar at Coventry, this XK120 SE was an original Personal Export Delivery car, with the first owner taking delivery of the car via the JR Inwards Jaguar dealership in Ruislip, Middlesex. Following its arrival in the US, the Jaguar has been a California-based car under its three most recent owners over the past 40 years, according to the consignor.
The known prior owners of the car were Richard Miller and Dale Shoupe, both residents of San Diego. Recently, the XK120 was completely restored by Escondido, California's Dave Flood, who owned it for over a decade. Well known for his exacting restorations of classic Jaguar automobiles and vintage aircraft, Mr. Flood is particularly noted for his handcrafted, made-to-order duophonic guitars. This XK120 SE is no exception to his high standards, with its handsome upholstery, distinctive white steering wheel, beautifully detailed and finished engine bay, and fully restored mechanical systems to match.
All numbers have been confirmed to match the build sheet by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust archives and the car was recently inspected by Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance judge Roy Miller, who specializes in Jaguars and found the car to be correct throughout. Offered complete with a tool roll and further accompanied by a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, this top-specification XK120 SE Fixed Head Coupe is simply superb.

This 1952 Jaguar XK120 SE is a Fixed Head Coupe that was refurbished between 2013 and 2015 and was acquired by the current owner in 2017. A five-speed manual transmission was installed the following year, and the 3.4-liter inline-six was rebuilt in 2019. The car is finished in British Racing Green over Suede Green leather, and equipment includes dual SU carburetors, a split front windshield, chrome bumpers and bumperettes, power-assisted front disc brakes, chrome 16” wire wheels with knock-off hubs, burl wood trim, lap belts, and Smiths gauges. This XK120 SE Fixed Head Coupe is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner in Connecticut with Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificates, the owner’s manual, service records, JCNA judging sheets, spare parts, and a Massachusetts title in the owner’s name.
Finished from the factory in red, the car was repainted in British Racing Green during the aforementioned refurbishment. Exterior equipment includes a split front windshield, chrome front bumpers, chrome rear bumperettes, and polished dual exhaust outlets. Paint checking is visible throughout the body.
Chrome 16” wire wheels feature knock-off hubs and were mounted with Vredstein tires in 2017, and additional work that year involved rebuilding the front suspension and refreshing the steering system. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension with telescopic-type hydraulic shock absorbers as well as semi-elliptical rear leaf springs and Girling hydraulic rear shock absorbers. Stopping power is provided by front discs and rear drums, and a brake booster was retrofitted in 2020.
The cabin features bucket seats with Suede Green leather upholstery complemented by color-coordinated door panels and gray carpets. Amenities include burl wood trim, lap belts, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror. Battery cut off and choke switches are mounted below the dash.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 2,300 miles.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six features dual SU carburetors, and it was factory rated at 180 horsepower in SE-specification. The engine was rebuilt in 2019, at which time the block was bored .030″ over and the crankshaft was reconditioned. The carburetors were rebuilt in 2020 and the fuel tank was cleaned at that time. A five-speed manual transmission was installed and the clutch replaced in 2018.
Cylinder head stamping W6397-8S is shown above, and a corresponding number is listed on the engine block as well as the Heritage Trust certificate.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors and serial numbers along with a build date of October 24, 1952.
The Massachusetts title carries an Odometer Discrepancy – Not Actual Mileage brand.
