Description from above auction 6/15:
171 - 1955 Jaguar XK140 Drophead Coupé
Registration YPC555
Chassis Number 807260
Engine Number G5031-8
Odometer reading 66,485 miles
Estimate £58,000 - £64,000
This rare, very original, matching numbers, righthand drive 1955 Jaguar XK140 drophead coupé was purchased by the owner in 1974 after seeing it advertised with 60,000 miles on the clock and in immaculate condition. It was a lot more money than he could afford but he dashed over to where the car was and wrote a cheque for much less than the asking price and put it on the bonnet; after 20 minutes the gentleman owner stepped forward and picked up the cheque. After a worrying week waiting for the cheque to clear, our vendor finally picked up the car. This car has been fully maintained and serviced by the vendor in his own workshop at his farm; it runs and drives superbly having only covered about 6,500 miles since its purchase. Finished in British Racing Green with black roof and brown leather interior, this XK140 is supplied with a V5C registration document, old registration documents and old Mot test certificates which go back to 2001. This is a rare opportunity to purchase an original XK140, righthand drive drophead coupé which has not been restored but is still in excellent condition throughout.

Seller's description:
1955 Jaguar XK140 Drophead Coupe 807260
A totally correct and exceptionally original example of a rare UK market, RHD drophead, supplied new in 1955 by The Woodcote Motor Co, Epsom. Sound condition, cosmetically mature and appealing, retaining original, mellowed tan leather interior, and of nicely understated specification with disc wheels and spats. The paint shows its age in a quite charming way, the chrome work is very good to excellent, and the overall appearance is seductively appealing. One owner from 1974 to 2015, and one since. Just 6,000 odd miles covered during those fifty years! Recent work has included a new stainless exhaust, new clutch, complete re-wire and a good deal more besides. Comes with a Jaguar heritage certificate confirming original specification and colour scheme, and a file of invoices from recent years showing parts expenditure, etc. Driving very nicely, sounding great, and fun to whizz around in! Very few survive in such undisturbed condition!
