    Lot #243832

This 1955 Jaguar XK140 roadster was restored between 1978 and 1989. It is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in red over tan leather. Equipment includes a tan convertible top, 16″ wire wheels, Lucas fog lights, and adjustable seats. This XK140 SE is now offered on dealer consignment by a BaT Local Partner with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, Jaguar Vehicle Information Record, JCNA judging sheets, historical photographs, service manuals, parts catalogues, a tool roll, and a clean Arizona title.

The car is finished in red, and the seller states the tan convertible top was replaced. Additional exterior details include a split windshield, Lucas fog lights, bright trim, dual exhaust outlets, and full-width chrome bumpers with overriders.

The 16″ wire wheels are mounted with 6.00-16 Firestone Deluxe Champion tires. A spare is stored under the body-color trunk floor, and braking is handled by drums at each corner.

The adjustable seats were reupholstered from red to tan leather during the restoration. Interior appointments include a cabin heater, a defroster, and door storage pockets.

The four-spoke steering wheel features a Jaguar-head center emblem and sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation consisting of a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and an ammeter alongside gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 628 miles, though the total mileage is unknown.

The 3.4-liter inline-six featured dual SU carburetors from the factory for a rating of 190 horsepower. It has also been fitted with an alloy radiator.

Engine block stamping G1689-8 shown above corresponds with the number listed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and Vehicle Information Record list the factory colors, serial numbers, and a manufacture date of December 10, 1954. JCNA judging sheets from 1991 and 2021 are displayed in the gallery.

The Trust certificate lists the chassis number as A810437, while the frame stamping is S810437. Base model XK140s had no letter prefix, while Modified (M) cars had an A and Modified cars with a C-Type cylinder head (MC) had an S.

The car is titled by the VIN 916898, which is engraved on the reproduction chassis plate.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
