This 1953 Jaguar XK120 SE roadster was completed on October 24, 1952, and dispatched to the Hoffman Motor Car Company in New York. It is said to have been stored indoors for 19 years before being restored in 1998. The seller purchased it that same year. Finished in Red over Biscuit and Red leather, the car is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a Fawn convertible top, chrome 16″ 60-spoke wire wheels, a split windshield, and a heater. This XK120 SE is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, service records, removed parts, a spare convertible top, and a Manitoba registration in the name of the seller’s company.
The car was refinished in red in 1998. Exterior equipment includes a Fawn convertible top, a split front windshield, chrome front bumpers, chrome rear bumperettes, and dual exhaust outlets. The driver-side front fender indicator was replaced. An uninstalled replacement convertible top is included in the sale.
Chrome 16” 60-spoke wire wheels are secured with two-eared knock-offs and mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall bias-ply tires. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension with telescopic-type hydraulic shock absorbers as well as semi-elliptical rear leaf springs and Girling hydraulic rear shock absorbers. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drums. The removed factory painted wire wheels and tires are included in the sale.
The seats are upholstered in red and Biscuit leather. Amenities include color-coordinated door panels and carpets, a heater, a passenger-side grab handle, door map pockets, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The gauges and clock were rebuilt in 2016. The five-digit odometer shows 23k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six features dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 180 horsepower in SE specification. A high-torque starter was installed in 2012.
The engine block and cylinder head are stamped W8335-8S, which matches the numbers displayed on the chassis tag.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors, equipment, and a completion date of October 24, 1952.
The vehicle is being sold on its registration, which serves as the ownership document in Manitoba, Canada. The Manitoba ownership document states “No Registration.”
