This 1953 Jaguar XK120 Drophead Coupe is a non-running project that was modified under prior ownership with a 350ci GM V8, four-speed automatic transmission, and four-wheel disc brakes. The car is finished in Cream over tan and brown leather, and equipment includes a split front windshield, chrome bumpers and bumperettes, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire front wheels with knock offs, aluminum disc rear wheels, rear wheel spats, a Nardi steering wheel, and Smiths gauges. This XK120 Drophead Coupe was acquired by the seller’s father in 2025 and is now being offered on their behalf with a clean California title.

The car is finished in Cream with a tan soft top, and exterior equipment includes a split front windshield, chrome front bumpers, chrome rear bumperettes, rear wheel spats, and a polished exhaust outlet. Cracks on the wheel spats and around the left bumper mount are viewable in the gallery. There are dents on the left quarter panel.

The 15″ wire front knock-off wheels and aluminum rear disc wheels were mounted with 215/75 Coker whitewall tires in 2025. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension with telescopic-type hydraulic shock absorbers as well as semi-elliptical rear leaf springs and Girling hydraulic rear shock absorbers. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs, and the rear brakes were reportedly overhauled in 2025. The brake booster is inoperative.

The cabin features aftermarket bucket seats trimmed in brown and tan leather. Amenities include burl wood trim, a center console, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror. A Jaguar-branded plate has been fitted in place of the stereo, and holes have been cut in the rear firewall for speakers. The passenger door panel has been removed, and the upholstery is torn. The removed glovebox door, passenger door panel, and other various interior pieces accompany the vehicle.

The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 44k miles.

The 350ci V8 was installed under prior ownership and features aluminum cylinder heads, an Edelbrock carburetor, tubular headers, and an aluminum intake manifold. Cooling is via an aluminum radiator with an electric fan. The seller tells us that the cylinder heads were milled and a replacement starter was installed in 2025.

The engine is linked with a four-speed automatic transmission. The seller states that a ring gear is broken.

The car is registered as Planned Non-Operation (PNO) in the state of California.
