    Car now offered at:

    Sellers description:
This late model Jaguar XK120 was manufactured in 1954 and repatriated into the UK in 2015. The car comes with a considerable history file from which it can be deduced that around $45,000 was spent between 2010 and 2012 on a comprehensive restoration and the car now presents in excellent condition. This work included a full repaint and re-trim as well as a large amount of mechanical refurbishment. The engine has a nice tight feel and holds excellent oil pressure and the original Moss gearbox provides smooth gear changes. The stunning Green paint finish is in really nice condition as is the leather trim and highly polished wooden dashboard. The Mohair hood is in first class order and is beautifully lined. Having thoroughly test driven this car for around 100 miles we consider that it is a real pleasure to drive and will give hours of pleasure to the next owner. XK120's are very handsome vehicles and this splendid Jaguar is a thoroughly useable example. Realistically priced for a model that is in fine condition and increasing in Value. £115,000

    Private Party or Dealer: Dealer

This 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE DHC was sold new at Hornburg Jaguar in Los Angeles, California to its first owner in Hollywood and was imported to the UK in 2015. Power comes from a numbers-matching 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six engine paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. A Jaguar Heritage Certificate is included and records pick up in 2005, while prior to that the car reportedly underwent a restoration and engine rebuild. Acquired by the selling dealer one year ago, it was refurbished by marque specialist Tony Clews Classic Jaguar in Winterborne Kingston, UK earlier this year with receipt included. This XK120 is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate, invoices dating back to 2005, and a UK title.

The Heritage Certificate lists the original color as cream, and the car was repainted in a color close to British Racing Green at some point in the past. Recent paintwork was carried out during the 2018 refreshing, including refinishing the doors and boot lid. Repair and realignment of the doors is also listed among the work done. Documentation of the refurbishment by Tony Clews Classic Jaguar can be seen in the photo gallery below, while many records from Cavallo Motorsports in Carlsbad, CA are also shown.

The car features knock-off wire wheels, an option available on XK120s starting in 1951. Invoices from previous ownership suggest new wheels, hubs, knock-offs, and bearings were installed in 2010.

The interior is nicely finished in Suede Green leather with matching carpet in lieu of the original red trim listed on the certificate. Recent work included repair of the carpet after adjustment of the brake and clutch pedals and shift mechanism. The steering wheel was also repainted.

Woodwork appears to be in good condition. The odometer shows just over 2,100 miles and total mileage is unknown, though the number is said to reflect mileage after the engine was rebuilt in the US. A handful of miles have been added by the seller.

The 3.4-liter DOHC XK inline-six is a numbers-matching engine and is said to have been overhauled at some point prior to 2005. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Moss 4-speed manual gearbox. The double SU carburetors were rebuilt and polished in 2018, and other work completed at that time included:

Making and fitting a new choke wiring harness with inline fuse
Repairing and rerouting underhood harnesses as needed
Fitting a new switch panel and switches for choke, cooling fan, and spotlights
Removing, polishing, and refitting cam covers with new hardware
Fitting locking wire to cam wheel retaining bolts
Installing new spark plugs and leads
Repairing an oil leak and cleaning the engine bay

Engine number F2354-8S is seen stamped on the cylinder head above, and corresponds with the number listed on the Jaguar Heritage Certificate. SE cars carried the 8S suffix.

The Heritage Certificate lists the car as an SE model, which offered increased power, a stiffer suspension, and dual exhaust. A single stainless steel exhaust is currently fitted to the car.
