This 1956 Jaguar XK140 MC fixed-head coupe is a non-running project that was purchased by the seller in 1978 and subsequently disassembled for refurbishment. The exterior is covered in gray primer, and the car retains 16″ wire wheels, a replacement 3.4-liter inline-six, and a four-speed manual transmission. Boxes of removed or replacement parts accompany the vehicle along with a handwritten logbook of disassembly and restoration work that was done. This XK140 is now offered with a Jaguar Daimler Production Record Trace Certificate and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
The exterior wears gray primer, and the rear window glass, rear bumper, lights, trim, and handles have been removed. Adhesive from removed tape is visible throughout the body and there is rust in the right battery well.
The 16″ wire wheels are mounted with older Goodyear tires. Braking is handled by drums at each corner.
The cabin has been stripped apart from a handful of gauges in a center panel. The seller notes an area of rust in the battery box.
The replacement 3.4-liter inline-six is equipped with a C-type cylinder head and dual SU carburetors and is said to have been rebuilt along with the four-speed manual transmission over 35 years ago.
The Production Record Trace Certificate from the Jaguar Heritage Trust lists the original colors and drivetrain numbers for chassis S815146DN as well as the build and dispatch dates.
The seller is including a restoration and disassembly logbook that was maintained throughout the project, which include sections for Parts Breakdown, Repairs, Purchased Parts, and Storage Records. Several individual pages document the removal sequence of each component, includes notes for proper reinstallation, evaluation of each part’s condition, and identification of whether refurbishment or replacement was required. A catalogued inventory of components accompanying the car includes
Fifteen individually labeled storage boxes
Complete interior upholstery, including door panels and leather seats
Refinished dashboard wood trim
Rebuilt radiator
Steering column and wheel
Rear window
Driveshaft
New wiring harness
New window trim rubber for all windows
The car is titled using the engine number G60588S, though the VIN on the title uses a “5” in place of the “S”. Chassis number S815146DN is viewable above.
