It is believed that the VIN T827434DN as listed at the last sale is not correct for the car being sold even though listed as such. Indeed T827434DN is confirmed to be another car entirely, the car being sold is believed to be T824734DN. It would then be correct to assume the car being sold has been converted to a DHC and the VIN listed was a typo. Corrections, confirmations and/or updated information welcomed.

I have seen this vehicle for an inspection / report for a client. This is a 3.4 litre SE updated with a correct 3.4 S engine ( factory ) in the late 70s - 1980s. It has additional non standard but desirable and well executed upgrades of electric power steering and 5 speed gear box. History file goes back to 1970s and the 2nd owner who chassis up rebuilt the car by that time it was a DHC and from my inspection looks like it has always been a DHC despite the vin.
One of the nicest driving XKs I have driven recently, tight and the upgrades make it pleasant to drive! ( Previous owner has a Jaguar workshop) A very sound and correct XK with only 4 owners good history tools etc. Let down with some minor moth damage to rear carpets and speedo inoperative.
Vendor is a long established RR Bugatti / Ferrari dealer who seems to have taken it in transaction and seems inexpensive.

Car was at auction in 2010

Some of the auction detail is said to be incorrect and belongs to T827434DN.

    Auction description:

    Lot 37 - 1959 Jaguar XK150 S Drophead Coupé

    Lot Number 37

    Registration JXG 300

    Chassis Number T827434DN

    Engine Number VS1938-8

    Odometer reading 24,648 miles

    Estimate £30,000 - £40,000

    Result Sold - £32,408

This earlier restoration Carmen Red XK150S with red interior is considered amongst many as the one to have. This example has aged gracefully and her less than concours appearance makes her the obvious choice for any journey. A wonderfully patina'd car, as welcome on the school-run as she would be at Goodwood or Monaco, this is a truly usable and mechanically sound classic in need of only light cosmetic restoration if one were so inclined. We the sellers would keep her exactly as she is; Usable, eye-catching and iconic but not soo valuable that one is frightened to use her. This car benefits from having been fitted with a 5-speed Getrag gearbox, more comfortable for longer rallies, and an electronic ignition so she fires first time every time....As many classic car owners will attest, this is an attractive feature.

This car boasts an original 3442cc 'S' engine shrouded by the stylish Drophead Coupé body therefore making her one of only 104 produced. We understand that the bonnet and the windscreen were probably changed in the 1980's during the car's restoration which completed in 1990. This car further possesses an enviable history file including photographs of her restorative work, many receipts totaling well into the thousands from recognised specialists such as Guy Broad and The Jaguar Workshop plus a whole host of XK Gazettes and related articles. JXG 300 is offered with original toolkit, handbooks, V5C Registration certificate, MoT road test certificate, and subject to insurance, can be driven away from the auction by the successful bidder.
