This original right-hand drive XK150 Drophead Coupé was sold new by J Davey of Mayfair. The current owner informs us that the first registered keeper is believed to have been Lord Mowbray, the 26th Baron Mowbray. The last registered keeper, a Mr J. Woodward, came to own VGT390 as part of a disputed estate, subsequently, the car remained off the road for many years. However, the current owner confirms that from 2004-2005 this Drophead Coupé had a body off restoration and retrim, including new mohair hood.
Presented in Signal Red with cream leather interior and red carpets, VGT390 is described as in sound running and driving order. There are small areas of cosmetic blemishes, such as a small dent on the rear offside wing and very minor micro blistering. However, the body and chassis are generally presented in fine condition with good panel fit and bright paintwork. The odometer reads 71,200 miles and we are informed by the vendor that this is genuine.
Supplied with an MoT test certificate until May 2013, this stunning XK150 Drophead Coupé remains one of the most desirable post-war British sports cars of all and with good reason considering the very limited number of right-hand drive examples manufactured.
We believe that XK150 Roadsters and Dropheads offer classic British open-top motoring for a very reasonable outlay... and also represent a most sensible investment given the current performance of the market.
