This 1958 Jaguar XK150 roadster underwent a multi-year, body-off refurbishment in the early 1990s that involved a repaint in cream, an interior re-trim in red leather, engine work, a gearbox rebuild, and more, as detailed below. The car wears a removable black soft top and rides on 16″ knock-off wire wheels coupled with disc brakes at all four corners. Inside, adjustable seats are accompanied by a wood-rimmed steering wheel and a heater. The 3.4L DOHC inline-six breathes through dual SU carburetors, while shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission. The roadster was purchased by the current owner’s late husband in 1968, and they acquired the car in 2024. Since 2024, recommissioning work has included inspecting the brakes, reassembling the dash, rebuilding the shift linkage, and replacing the clutch slave cylinder. This XK150 is now offered on dealer consignment by the Autobarn Collection—a BaT Local Partner— with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, refurbishment photos, vehicle literature, service records, a car cover, and an Illinois title listing the car as a 1959 model.
The body was removed from the frame, repaired, and repainted in its current cream finish as part of the aforementioned early 1990s refurbishment. The car wears a removable black soft top and is further equipped with a one-piece windshield, fender-mounted mirrors, and full-width chrome bumpers with overriders. Photos of the car with the soft top up are viewable in the gallery along with paint meter readings.
The 16″ wire wheels are secured with two-ear knock-offs and mounted with 185-width Firestone Cavalino Sport 200 tires. A full-size spare is stored under the trunk floor, and braking is handled by Dunlop four-wheel discs. The brakes were serviced between October and August 2007, and recent work in July 2025 involved inspecting and cleaning the brakes as well as freeing and lubricating the parking brake mechanism.
The interior was re-trimmed in red leather circa 1992. The adjustable seats are accompanied by a cabin heater, a defroster, wind-up side windows, door storage pockets, lap belts, and a folding rear bulkhead. An Audiophase CA-813 AM/FM/CD stereo is linked with speakers under the dash. Work in July 2025 involved reassembling the dash as well as replacing the heater valve and knob.
The split-spoke steering wheel features a wood rim and sits ahead of centrally mounted Smiths instrumentation including a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock as well as a 140-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. A Lucas ammeter is positioned between the speedometer and tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows 39k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer cable was replaced in the course of the early 1990s refurbishment, and the tachometer cable was changed in July 2025. True mileage is unknown.
The 3.4L DOHC inline-six featured dual SU HD6 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 210 horsepower. Engine work as part of the early 1990s refurbishment is noted to have included replacing the ignition module, generator bracket, and crankshaft and water pump pulleys as well as repairing the throttle linkage and radiator.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Records indicate that the transmission was overhauled in December 1991, and a clutch pedal block was fabricated between October 2006 and August 2007. Recent work in July 2025 involved rebuilding the shift linkage as well as replacing the clutch slave cylinder. Rust is visible on various underside components.
The Production Record Trace Certificate from the Jaguar Heritage Trust lists factory colors and identification numbers and notes a build date of May 29, 1958.
Photos taken at various stages of the refurbishment process are included.
