What makes this particular XK150 so special is its remarkable originality. This is a lifelong California car that has spent its entire life in the Santa Cruz area. It still wears the majority of its original paint, something that is incredibly rare to find on an XK150 today. The upholstery also appears to be largely original, with the exception of the carpets, which we know have been replaced.
The preservation and patina of this car are simply beautiful. It has the appearance and feel of a genuine time capsule, right down to its original-style California black license plates. So many XK150s have suffered from rust, accident damage, or extensive restoration over the decades that finding an honest, largely unrestored California example like this is truly unusual.
Equipped with a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, this is also a fantastic running and driving car. It is the type of Jaguar that can be enjoyed exactly as it sits, and its originality gives it a character that simply cannot be recreated through restoration.
For full transparency, the car no longer retains its matching-numbers cylinder block. It does, however, retain its matching-numbers cylinder head.
If you are looking for a beautifully preserved XK150 that is straightforward, honest, highly original, and an absolute pleasure to drive, you would be hard-pressed to find another example quite like this one. Cars with this level of originality and California history simply do not come along very often.
