The car was converted to RHD many years ago and undertook a full body off re-build at the time. It still retains a 3.8 engine but now has a manual/overdrive gearbox. With the US spec rear axle ratio it is a superb high geared long distance tourer. It is used extensively for European tours and has now covered 18000 miles since re-build.

Re-imported in 1994 and converted to RHD & overdrive added. The whole car was restored to concours standard between 1994 & 1996.
On 26.10.01 Don Law Jaguar Specialists found liners had slipped rendering the block scrap. Another bare Jaguar 3.8 period block was sourced and rebuilt using all the original existing parts from VA 1418-8 including the original complete head with Engine No. VA 1418-8 still present on it. A receipted invoice dated 26.10.01 has been kept to prove the above work.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
