This very famous car is mentioned in Jaguar Quarterly magazine Winter 1990 page 120(how appropriate!) with Michael Rowan being the owner for the previous 12 years approx, during which time it only covered about 500 miles.

The car just won "Phil Hill Trophy" for best sportscar on Show at Pebble Beach.
Norman Dewis was with the car!
It is THE single most important XK in the world and probably the reason W.L. started the whole C Type adventure!
    What a car!

I have seen the car this year at Pebble Beach. It was a contender at the Concourse in class "O". Surely stole the show from a lot of the cars present in Monterey that weekend. Looked very original in details, with nice patina interior and spectacular engine compartement. Admirable motor.

There I was one bright summer's day in about 1978, playing about with 670503 in my parents' front garden, when I heard the unmistakable sound (to the likes of you & me) of an XK-engined car with competition exhaust approaching at speed.

I stood up and looked towards the gates to see which XK-owning chum was popping in this time. When I saw JWK 651, I didn't know whether to gnash my teeth in unfettered jealousy, or faint, as it was being driven by a pal who was sitting next to the new owner who had just paid £15,000 for it. Am I being brave to admit that at that time I thought this was a completely mad price?

Yes I can relate to that Jeremy.
In 1978 a client phoned and asked me to collect one of the sister cars to JWK 651 that he purchased. He had paid £20,000 for it at a time the very concours XKs were fetching no more than £5k maximum. Although it was a breathtakingly beautiful car we thought he must be bonkers.
He still owns the car and two years ago was offered £750,000 for it.
Glad to say he still owns it.

I don't know if this is original or legitimate but whoever owns this jaguar may want to investigate and consider this listing.
