This Jaguar appeared in an episode of Steptoe and Son - series 5/episode 5, entitled 'The Colour Problem.' Albert wants a colour TV. Harold buys the Jag but feels obliged to sell it back to the dealer and buy his dad a colour TV instead after Albert falls very ill (although only pretending to be ill, naturally.) Very funny episode.

any chance of a pic from the screen showing the car
what date do you think the episode was?

This is the link to the episode on YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch .
It was broadcast on 3 April 1970. According to the episode synopsis, Harold paid £315 for the car; those were the days!

Nope, the link doesn't want to copy correctly, after the word watch you need to add ?v=x5ecr_cj5o8

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
