This chassis and UK registration number is on a handsome C-type Replica for sale in Germany

Peter writes a short description of the car and provides a photo in the October 2013 edition of the XK Gazette. There is some question about the VIN however, it might be 667234. Any current info on the car is solicited.

Car is great, history not. It shows KBL 737 but has no original plate. The plate it has is new and says 667234. Somebody made a stupid mistake.
The whole thing a fraud ?

On a replica it would seem unwise to create a fraud, little to be gained and highly illegal. Someone may have made an unfortunate error however. Only means I know of to sort it out is a solid paper trail which is impossible without the owner's participation.

Thank you for your reply. Here is the car. Have a look at the plate. One can´t make an error if he usese the original plate.

This copy has an English registration. If desired, we will be happy to deliver the car with a German road approval and the H license plate. The basis is the components of an XK 120 built in 1954.
This vehicle impresses with its extremely loving and detailed structure. Particular importance was attached to the exact dimensional accuracy of the body, so it is not differently deeper and wider than in other well-known recreations. Weight and engine power, and thus also the driving performance, correspond to the original. Well-known rallies have been successfully driven with this car.
So definitely one of the best XK-C new builds. Those in the know know, of course, that an original, if it is available at all, costs several million.

It is currently believed that the replacement data plate has been erroneously stamped 667234, data at 667234 may be incorrect. Any further word on 667234 or 667284 gratefully received.
By David Bentley: From factory records:
- 667234 was fitted with engine F2741-8 and was registered 174 BMP. I do not have any record of it after production.
- 667284 was fitted with engine F3599-8 and was registered KBL 737.

There are unverified records that suggest the body from this car is now fitted on S669022.
