Re: [xk] numbers for John
... for both models, I think this has to be an 8, not a 3. So I can testify that this is definitely 670008. Disc wheels, ENV rear axle, alloy style gearbox tunnel, tall handle gearbox dipstick, black steering wheel, holes for data plate to the left of center. The radiator has been recored with a later straight finned type core so there is no hole for a starting crank. No front sidelamps nor any holes for them, but they may have been filled over with Bondo. Floors gone, non-original fuel pump. Crudely fashioned air filter under the right wing. Something was funny about the bonnet hinges and I think it might have been drilled to accept the later type bonnet hinges, but I could be wrong on that point. All together an enjoyable experience to see it in the rough. Rob Reilly -....

[xk] numbers for John
Hi Jim, I am travelling and in New York right now and not following the List all that closely, but I can say that the gearbox no. you quoted is correct for 670008. Perhaps there will be a duplicate appearing from elsewhere some day (but let's hope not)! Regards, John Elmgreen....

RE: [xk] numbers for John [cjkjmk]
... and considering there is no ID plate on this one it certainly could have been built BUT it would have been done without the original chassis, engine, body with ID tag and I believe transmission JH 611. I have not inquired about a heritage certificate so I can't say about the transmission. Before any work begins I hope to have a real authority with no interest to inspect and confirm,Ian Furness will probably be my first choice and he is an easy drive from here. Rob Reily from the list was down Saturday and mentioned he would be willing to discuss what he saw. I saw 670008 today at JK Restorations in Illinois. It is all restored in cream with red/biscuit duo-tone seats. It has the correct radiator with starting crank hole.
