Chassis no. 670062

• The 62nd left-hand drive roadster built

• Matching chassis and engine numbers

• An older restoration

• Registered in Germany

"We claimed 120 mph (for the XK 120), a speed unheard of for a production car in those days." - William Heynes, Chief Engineer, Jaguar Cars.

The 62nd alloy-bodied XK120 roadster produced, '670062' is one of 184 built with left-hand drive and was delivered new in December 1949 to Universal Motors in Cairo, Egypt. This attractive and rare XK120 is owned by the founder and former owner of Chronoswiss, the respected watch manufacturer, and featured heavily in the company's early promotional material.

Finished in Old English White with beige leather interior, the car was restored in 1996 and comes with the related bills. We are advised that both the bodywork and the restored interior are in good condition, and that the engine is running and the gearbox shifts well. In 1999 the XK participated in the 1999 Silvretta Classic Rallye Montafon, winning a 1st place trophy; won another award at the Bensberg Classics; and also took part in the prestigious Mille Miglia Storica in 2003. Accompanying documentation includes an FIA Historic Vehicle Identity Form and a German Zulassungsbescheinigung (registration document) in the vendor's name.

Equally at home on the concours lawn, racetrack or Grand Tour, this early alloy-bodied XK120 roadster would be a welcome addition to any collection.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
