can the owner of this contact me tmcgrath@bigpond.com regarding a book I am writing on alloy XK120's

First two photos are of the wrong car. Original color was gunmetal grey with suede green and tan interior. Car was originally in Southern California and was modified in that the hood was louvered, lamps shaved, Boranni knock-off wires installed and color change to white body with black interior. All numbers still match.

the first 2 pics shown of an alloy 120 with whitewalls and signs of carburettor fire are not of 670088 but are almost certainly 670090 and anyway should realy be deleted from this history listing

I have finished sorting boxes of parts received with car. Mostly complete but will need tail light housings, headlamps, spats and right rear fender for restoration. Passenger seat and dash still has original two tone leather trim.

I have posted a picture taken when the original crash roll was removed.
Gunmetal sample has been sent for color match.
I am hoping the color will be a good match to the sample from Mr Camerlengo.

Ebay item 12/8/19

www.ebay.com/itm/1950-Jaguar-XK120/254445546811

Car has a buy it now price of $225,000 for 5 days, seller mnjliquidators, now said to be in Hoodsport, Washington.

Seller's description:

My XK120 was built in January of 1950 and dispatched from the Jaguar factory the same month. 670088 was delivered to and sold by west coast distributor Max Hoffman later the same year.

In 1964 after 14 years of extensive use and a few shunts resulting in the fitting of a steel rear wing, Aron Smith the original owner, retired and stored his car under a overhang beside his barn to protect it from the elements. Being aluminum it appeared to be fine but snow runoff caused major wood damage to the Ash frame.

After Aron passed his son Kelly Smith inherited the car and barn and began the daunting task of bringing the car back to life. Kelly removed the body from the frame and began the rebuild of the chassis and motor. He soon found that his skills and finances were not enough so the car sat in the same barn until 2012 when he traded the unfinished project to me for a restored red XK120 roadster.

I, the founder of XKS Unlimited now retired, moved the disassembled project to Southern California from Portland Oregon that same year and began collecting the few parts that had gone missing over the years.

Complete and now fully assembled, the car is now located in Washington state. The original bare aluminum body (no filler) with new ash subframes from the UK is ready for painting or polishing.

This car retains its original factory wheel covers, rear fender spats and all unique early features.

The 5 x 5" steel wheels are powder coated awaiting paint and tires.

Correct and rebuilt motor W1178-8, matching Moss JH945 4 speed transmission and ENV differential are in place.

The Connolly leather interior and Stayfast hood supplied by World Upholstery in CA were copied from original parts. The hoodsticks along with unique backlight have been re-chromed.

A copy of the Heritage Certificate accompanies the car.

Original side curtains are the only parts needing procurement.

This is one of 240 hand formed roadsters completed. Each were slightly different but were outwardly almost identical to the later steel cars.

Located in Washington state, this roadster, chassis number 670088, was the 88th Roadster built and it is one of one hundred eighty-four delivered with left-hand drive.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
