Someone posting under the nickname of *sgtpeper* (and which e-mail adress reads jplous@gmail.com) did re-open a thread on xk-lovers website re this Alloy car:

Hello all,
I posted years ago with some success about this-

My Dad is the legal owner of this car and I would like to find it.

Last I heard it was outside of Paris but that is all the info I know.

The story:
My dad bought the car in the late 70s and stored it in Wisconsin. It was illegally sold and illegally titled in the south. It then went to California where someone tried to put it back together. This was about the time my dad realized it was missing. By the time he found it, it was being exported to Europe and that was the end of it.

There is an open case on this car in Wisconsin as well as with the FBI. We still have the original title for the car - in negative form or however they printed it - looks funny heh.

I would love to find the car, it is the last truly amazing car my dad owns and we have been looking for it for nearly 30 years!

Thanks for any and all help!

The above information posted by Lofty is correct. That was my post. My father passed away several years ago and I do have the original title and a copy of the police reports that were filed when the car was stolen.

This car was claimed to be stolen many years ago in the US.
This story has turned out to be false and misleading with no foundation or proof.

Dear Jeff

You know perfectly well that what you write is rubbish.
You have known the whereabouts of this car all through its recent life, you have had every opportunity to prove your claims on many occasion yet you choose not to. (are unable to)
You were contacted to prove title and substance to your story and came back with nothing.
The police report was closed as you know, this was after you claimed it as stolen because you felt your farther was not paid enough money. The police closed this case immediately upon finding the 'accused thief' and seeing a perfectly legal title and bill of sale from your farther. Of course you know all of this but still want to slander.
Please contact me so we can take this matter to court and settle it once and for all. I will post the result on here for all to see. Including the claim we will be making against you for very substantial damages.

Best regards,
David

I'm not sure why I'm being attacked. When my father died, I found all the files in his safe. I have the original title in hand. I have copies of old police reports and names from when my father filed the report decades ago. I have no knowledge of anything you mentioned with anything being closed. I'm not sure how this is slander if I have the title in hand and my father never sold the car. No thief was ever found that I'm aware of. It was sold illegally by the owners of the storage facility where the car was being stored for years. Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss further. This car meant a lot to my father who was a long time classic car collector through most of his life.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
