Was this the supercharged car owned in the early 50s by Harry Newton? Regards,

In reply to George F. Bentleys question re the supercharged alloy XK 120 670150, the car depicted on the site is a 1986 constructed 120 race car built up by one Jim Tester Snr. in Scotland. Yes, the body is made of alloy, but not a stick of wood in it. This car currently wearing WEB 8 registration was previously registered XKK 54 and known as the 'Broadsport' car, then owned by Guy Broad Spares. Unfortunately this car has a completly false/fake identity, together with a fake chassis plate. The current owner is aware of this. The 'real' 670150 was imported into the UK in 1972 (albeit minus the Supercharger, but still had the drive for it). It could well have been Harry Newton's car as it was the only Factory Supercharged XK. It was rebuilt and extensively raced by John Harper and John May - both well known XK aficionados, it passed to a Mr. Ballisat for a very short time before being sold to an enthusiast in Germany circa 1979/80. It passed through a couple more owners in Germany before ending up with its long term current owner in 1990. It is still in race condition and today has a 4.5 litre engine with webers. The car has all its original body/chassis plates, together with the S.C.C.A. Supercharged plate on the dashboard, together with all its race plaques from Santa Barbara, Pomona etc. I can give you the S.C.C.A. Plate reg No if you want more details. The car has full continuous history from the date it was purchased in the U.S.A by well known dealer Chris Renwick. Incidently, it was converted to R.H.D. in 1973, and was painted Silver Blue in 1976 which it still wears today with Red trim. Let me know if you would like any more details.

Dear Anonymous, - a nice period photo of FPN 124, obviously taken in the 50's. It's original owner was John Riseley-Pritchard, a well known racer. Unfortunately, you have posted this incorrectly under Chassis No 670150 . The correct Chassis No is 660369 , a car I have owned for many years. Under XK Data you will find a car advertised in Jan 2015 by Fender-Broad as FPN 124, 660369, which is a 'modern day' 2011/12 new build 'Replica', with the identity having been illegally acquired (STOLEN) by means of a false DVLA declaration. Please see the 'Comments' section under both sites for 660369 and 670150. Incidentally both fake cars have been sold by the same person! Proceeding...

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
