I have uploaded info from auction website prior to auction.
The gear box number stamped on ID plate JH7920 seems way to late and interestingly someone has note wrong prefix above of gearbox.
This very tidy and complete car probably all its life in california the car was green exterior with yellow engine bay when restoration started and it didn't appear to have Robergel wheels but did have the Marchall headlights.
I have copies of all the paperwork relating to the possible fitment of the supercharger and dozens of pics of the car after it was dimantled but no photos of the complete car prior to pulling apart.
I note in the auction story it makes mention of pics of it in San Francisco in 1966 with the Robergel's being on it - love to get copies of these for my research on alloy XK120's

This very interesting Jaguar XK120 alloy-bodied roadster is the 155th example of 182 alloy left hand drive roadsters that were built before Jaguar switched to steel body construction. While the basic XK engine provided considerable performance, a number of early XK120s were also fitted with English-built Wade superchargers. Strong evidence indicates that this particular car was so equipped, with all the telltale cutouts required for installation left in place under the bonnet when the current owner restored the car.

This XK120 was manufactured on February 24, 1950 and shipped to the Hollywood, California dealership of Charles Hornburg on March 21, 1950 before it was believed to have been purchased by a Dr. Hayes from San Francisco. Letters accompanying the car were received by Dr. Hayes from a fellow Jaguar enthusiast who had already installed a Wade blower on his own XK120, providing advice about carburetor sizes and settings, as well as relating his racing experiences at Watkins Glen in 1950. In addition, many pages of blueprints (dated 1950) and technical drawings also come with the car, explaining how to install the Wade supercharger, as well as a copy of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, numbered 16443.

Photos of the car when it was located in San Francisco, with 1966 license validation stickers, showed that it was also equipped with a very rare optional set of French-manufactured Rubergel bolt-on wire wheels, unlike the more common painted steel disc-type wheels with hubcaps. A California car since it was originally shipped stateside in 1950, the XK120 displays stunning restoration today and retains its California black plate, as well as a pair of Marchal headlamps and a Bluemel “Brooklands” steering wheel that are believed to be original to the car.

The rarest and most sought-after Jaguar this side of a full-competition C-type, this XK120 remains an outstanding example of the few early-build alloy models originally produced, along with a fascinating provenance and period documentation. Exclusive then and exclusive now, some cats just get better with age!
