This car is mentioned in a letter from the then owner, Ed. West, in "Jaguar Driver" December 1982. He stated that the car was as original as can be, with 40000 miles on the clock. He also owned 670180. He lived in Tustin California.

This is the holly grail. The owner, whose name I have lost, but will find lived in or south of Thousand Oaks, Ca. I have many pictures of this absolutly unmolested example of an alloy. When I saw it in 1984? it was on blocks in a whare house with 1000 miles on it with good cred. I have many notes from this examination.

Could there really be two alloy XK120s within just ten chassis numbers of each other, with only 1000 miles on them? Perhaps Mr. Caraher is confusing this car with 670178, the well known car with just 1000 miles (or so) from new.

Additional info. for Bob Gillam following e-mail to me-my reply failed on e-mail address given.
The original owner gave an address c/o Claridges Hotel London in March 1950. This date co-incides with the production date of the car and possibly he took delivery in the UK prior to shipping it to the States.
Also Bob, Ed. West's full address in 1982 was 1942 Jan Marie Place TUSTIN CA 92680. I hope this helps with your further research.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
