This 1950 Jaguar XK120 Roadster is finished in dark green and powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a roll bar, a fuel cell, 16″ wheels, triple SU carburetors, a Brookland’s-style windscreen, and a single seat with racing seatbelts. The car has reportedly been raced since the 1960s and was acquired by the seller’s husband in 1992, who continued to race it into the 2000s. This XK120 Roadster is now offered with racing log books, spare and removed parts, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The steel body was refinished in dark green during prior ownership and features racing numbers, a single Brookland’s-style windscreen, Raydot side-view mirrors, a roll bar, dual exhaust outlets, and an electrical cutoff switch. Flaws are noted in the finish. Steel 16″ wheels wear Dunlop 600L racing tires. Spare 15″ and 16″ wire wheels are included in the sale.

The cockpit features a single seat with burgundy upholstery, and matching upholstery covers the door panels and dashboard trim. A headrest is mounted on the roll bar, and additional equipment includes racing seatbelts and a fire extinguisher. Replacement wooden floorboards are included in the sale, and wear on the seat is visible.

The Moto-Lita steering wheel sits ahead of a 120-mph speedometer, a VDO tachometer, and a mix of factory and aftermarket auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 23k miles, and total mileage is unknown.

The 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six is equipped with three SU carburetors and was built by Stuart Plant from Crowe Engineering of Essex, England and assembled in the US during prior ownership. A 20-gallon Fuel Safe fuel cell is mounted in the trunk. A spare 3.4-liter engine and a transmission are included in the sale. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.

A collection of spare components is included in the sale.

A letter from Jaguar lists a production date of April 13, 1950, along with the factory colors and serial numbers.

Racing log books, a typewritten description of the car from 1992, and spare and removed parts are included in the sale.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
