When I acquired #670501 in 2002 I registered the car on XKdata.com when I started to research the history of the car. That was an “on – off” exercise and very entertaining and educational!

Today I like to summarize my findings and ask for the support of the XKdata.com users:

The original body colour of #670501 was Suede Green. The car was delivered via Max Hoffmann (NY) in July 1950 to unknown first owner.

Supposedly in the early 50s a „Lady Racer“ ran Speed Trials at Daytona Beach.

In 1967/1968 that Lady Racer sold #670501 to the then President of the Jaguar Affiliates Group Michigan (Alan Boring). At that time the car was painted in a „fleshy“ colour and therefore nicknamed „The Shrimp“

#670501 spent the next app.10 years in the Michigan area. Steve Daniels of Clinton, MI. was the owner of #670501 between 1972 and 1974, David Cleavinger, Michael Griffin and Jimmie Edwards popped up as possible owners between 1974 and 1976.

In the period1976-1978 #670501 Gordon Keller (Alameda in those days) found #670501 in bare metal and without engine installed in a garage supposedly located in Berkeley, Los Gatos, Paso Robles or Santa Cruz (CA) and exported the car to the UK.

Based upon information provided and ongoing research previous owners during the period 1950 – 1968 could have been well known race drivers Louise and John Bird (NY, FL) or Fred Dagavar (NY)

Can XKdata.com users help to throw some light on the “dark holes” in the history of #670501 between 1950 – 1968 and 1974 – 1978? I

Did any of the XKdata.com user ever stumbled across a XK120 roadster with a “fleshy” livery before 1968?

Did anybody remembers selling Jaguars to Gordon Keller for export end of the 70s?

For additional information or photos pls. feel free to contact wolfgang.kurth@advolar.com

Thank you for your support.

I missed asking one more question:

The 1972 - 1974 owner of my XK120 OTS #670501 did own at the same time #670555! Does any of the XKdata.com users know who owns #670555 as of today?

Pls. contact wolfgang.kurth@advolar.com

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
