Car for sale on EBay:

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll

Chassis # 670683 is a 1950 XK 120 OTS recently shipped to the UK from the US . It has a US title document together with a certificate issued by UK Customs confirming that the taxes due on import to the EU have been paid in full. To avoid any confusion, the car is located in the UK with all EU import taxes paid. The car is a restoration project (obviously!). Work began some years ago on the chassis. This has been the subject of a full overhaul. There is evidence of it being fitted with new suspension bushes and hydraulics and there has been some local welding where necessary on the rear suspension mountings. It has a sound fuel tank fitted and the chassis has been repainted. There are some signs that work has also been done to the engine. For example, the dynamo looks like it has been restored as do several other engine parts. But the final fitting up of the carbs and manifolds was never finished so we cannot run the engine. We do not expect a buyer to assume that the work has been done, but, when you buy an old car, any surprises you get are usually bad. In this case there is the possibility of some good news. The engine is of the correct type for the car, but it is not the original engine. The major external body panels will all go again. In most cases, they will need repair to the lower sections but are sound enough to take that repair without losing their shape. The pictures are intended to provide an inventory of the parts that come with the car. It is missing a hood frame and instruments but both are available from a variety of sources and many people replace XK instruments with those from 60's and 70's Jaguar saloons. I am happy to try to answer questions on the car and on what's included, but as a general rule, if it is not in the pictures, its not there. The car can be viewed in the Southampton area (90 miles south west of London).

With 12 bids so far the current price is at US $14,100.00 (Reserve met) with 7 hours left in the auction.

I am pretty sure the car arrived in italy some years ago, it was restored and repainted in old english white. I know more about this car but "save the privacy" !

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
