Ebay item 9/23

Classified ad price: £148,000 seller vandpcars, Northampton, UK, 0 miles stated

1950 Jaguar XK120 OTS Alloy Bodied Race Car

Registration Number: 814YUK

Delivery miles since an open Cheque book builf by XK motorsport. This car cost a small fortune to build & was done to the highest specifications.

The high compression engine is bored out to 3.6 Litres & sports triple Webber twin choke side draught carbutettors. The Cylinder head is gas flowed & ignition fully mapped resulting in an impressive 340 BHP output. This combined with the lightwiegh custom aluminium body makes for a very very rapid machine indeed.

Further features include: full retrim in leather with bucket syle seats; stainless steel big bore exhaust; uprated gearbox with competition clutch; limited slip differential; uprated suspension and brakes; new wheels and tyres. The car is OK for taller drivers due to the bucket style seats & new pedal arrangement.

Resplendent in brand new black paintwork, burgundy hides & carpets complete the look. The car started life as a LHD example & was convertedt to ~RHD during the build process. It is road registered & UK road legal. The car is equipped with all the usual bits such as a roll hoop, aluminium radiator, bonnet strap, aluminium quick fill fuel cap & twin aero screens. The boot still has plenty of space for travel luggage.

Not one for the faint of heart, this car is ready for seriously fast road use where (& probably where not) permitted but will be equally if not more at home on a race track.

If the 3.8 E-type, triple-carb lump made about 180/190bhp DIN, this claim of 340bhp is interesting.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
