This 1951 Jaguar XK120 roadster was completed on May 31, 1951 and distributed in the US through Hornburg Jaguar of Los Angeles, California. It was acquired around seven years ago by the seller, who commissioned a subsequent refurbishment by Jon Pollock Restorations of Reseda, California that reportedly included a rebuild of the 3.4-liter inline-six and the installation of a Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission, along with a repaint in Pastel Green Metallic. Additional equipment includes a removable black soft top and side curtains, Wilwood front disc brakes, aftermarket bucket seats, Lucas front fog lamps, and chrome knock-off wire wheels. The cylinder head was refreshed in 2019, while work performed in June 2022 consisted of a replacement of the head gasket, intake valves, timing chains and tensioner, and rear wheel cylinders. This XK120 is being offered with a Jaguar Production Record Trace certificate, records from current ownership, a tool kit, a car cover, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean California title in the name of the seller’s trust.
Finished from the factory in Silver, the car was repainted its current shade of Pastel Green Metallic around 2015. The front grille was re-chromed and Lucas headlights and front fog lamps were also installed during the refurbishment.
Chrome 16” wire wheels were reportedly installed during the refurbishment and mounted with Firestone Cavallino Sport 200 tires. A spare is found in the rear storage area. Wilwood front disc brakes have been added. The rear wheel cylinders were replaced in June 2022, while prior work during the refurbishment is said to have included overhauling the rear drum brakes and replacing the shocks, wheel bearings, and rear leaf springs.
The cabin houses aftermarket fixed-back bucket seats upholstered in Connolly Green leather with a matching dash pad and door panels. Lighter green Wilton wool carpets line the floors, and amenities include Crow latch-and-link lap belts, a dash-mounted rear-view mirror, passenger-side grab handle, and map pockets in both doors.
A replacement wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of centrally-mounted instrumentation that is said to have been rebuilt and includes a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, a 140-mph speedometer, and auxiliary displays. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 52k miles, around 3k of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter inline-six was reportedly rebuilt by Jon Pollock Restorations in 2015, and work is said to have included installing upgraded camshafts, a stainless steel exhaust system, and an aluminum radiator and electric fan, along with replacement of the dual SU carburetors, fuel tank, wiring harness, gear reduction starter, and exhaust manifolds. The cylinder head was refreshed in 2019 by Martin Davidson’s Automotive Machine Shop of Reseda, California, at which time cracks were repaired, the head was ported and polished, and the valve guides, exhaust seats, valve stem seals, and camshaft bearings were replaced. The timing chains and tensioners were replaced in June 2022, along with the cylinder head gasket and intake valves.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission that reportedly features a lightweight flywheel and was installed during the refurbishment. Additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery, along with receipts beginning in 2018 and a handful of photos from the refurbishment.
The Jaguar Production Record Trace Certificate shows the factory colors and identification numbers. The car is titled using the engine number.
