Many pictures and considerable discussion. Partial text:
XK120 roadster 671284 has been sent to Concours Sportscar Restoration from Denmark for a total restoration which will include substantial modifications to transform the car into a very fast yet practical XK. The car has a very interesting history and is as follows:
XK120 chassis 671284 was ready for delivery from Coventry 14th June 1951 and dispatched from the factory for Hoffman in New York on the 2nd of July 1951 and shortly after arrival in the US modified for racing purposes by Charles Wallace probably with some assistance from Charles Hornburg. The car has been fitted with a MKII Jaguar cylinder head, extractors, aluminum brake drums, sandcast two inch SU's, twin exhaust system and oil cooler.
When the XK 120 left the factory it was painted pastel blue with light blue interior and a sand-coloured hood. It seems to have kept the body colour, pastel blue, until about 1962, where it changed to a red, "rosso corso", colour.
In 1987, the XK120 was aquired in USA by a member of the UK Jaguar Enthusiasts Club, who painted the car black and gave it a beige interior together with a black hood. In 1995 the car was purchased by the current owner who had some modifications done for rallying and racing and by now the car, essentially unrestored, is well due for restoration.
Chassis No. 671284 raced at Laguna Seca, Torrey Pines, Elkhart Lake, Sebring and Santa Clara Road Races, from which it still carries a badge saying "Contestant - Santa Clara Road Races 1954". According to Raul Ricardo Hunziker, who owned the car from 1970 to 1987, it was also raced at Daytona Beach and other racetracks.

As noted above, this car is being restored at Concours Sportscar Restoration in Australia. The owner, Ole Philipson, sent the car from Denmark to Gavin King (Concours Sportscar Restoration) in 2008 and is ready to send back (Jan 2012) following an extensive restoration that incorporated a host of modifications. Seller's description:

VIN 671284
This 1951 Jaguar XK120 is a striking example of Jaguar’s elegant Roadster, benefitting from a programme of restoration and modification by specialist Concours Sport Restoration at the reported cost of over $300,000.
The XK inline-six engine has been sleeved and now has an increased capacity of 3.8-litres. The modified engine sends a dyno-proven 312hp to the rear wheels via a five-speed Tremec manual transmission and limited-slip differential equipped Salisbury axle. The original Moss gearbox is also included in the sale.
The accompanying Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace Certificate confirms that this XK120 was manufactured in June 1951 as a factory left-hand-drive ‘OTS’ car that was first registered in New York in July 1951.
The XK120 has an interesting motorsport provenance and is said to have been prepared for racing by Charles Wallace and Charles Hornburg shortly after its arrival in the US. It raced at Laguna Seca, Torrey Pines, Elkhart Lake, Sebring, Santa Clara, and Daytona Beach. The car even retains the period dashboard-mounted plaque which is inscribed ‘Contestant – Santa Clara Road Races 1954’.
Modified with period appearance in mind, the XK120 is said by the seller to be eligible for many classic rally events.
The car is offered for sale in Viborg, Denmark by the owner who has been the custodian of the Roadster for the past 30 years.
The covered has covered only around 1,200 miles since its restoration.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
This Jaguar XK120 Roadster is finished in the sophisticated hue of Santorini Black with a new custom-made black canvas soft-top roof with windows and a tonneau cover. Tan Connolly leather adorns the dashboard, centre console, and door cards, complemented by a matching carpet set, tan lap belts, and punctuated by chrome accents.
It rides on recent Borrani wire wheels, shod with Dunlop Road Racing tyres.
The highly developed engine includes forged Venolia pistons, Carillo rods, a race harmonic balancer, and an aluminium flywheel. The head was extensively ported and modified to Lightweight C-Type specification. The motor breathes via triple Weber DCOE45 carburettors, a bespoke six-branch manifold, and a stainless steel exhaust.
Further mechanical upgrades include a large aluminium radiator with KW fan, an aluminium fuel tank, Wilwood pedal box, vented front disc brakes, braided fuel lines, a Monza style fuel filler, GAZ adjustable shock absorbers and leather-trimmed leaf spring gaiters made with the original patterns.
Equipment includes original Lucas fog lights, Smiths instrument dials and auxiliary gauges, a wood-rimmed sports steering wheel with billet boss, a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, a transmission tunnel mounted padded armrest, door card map pockets, and an illuminated boot with internal tan leather hatch cover and matching carpeted load area.
The XK120 is accompanied by its title, Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace Certificate, dyno data printouts, the original Moss gearbox, and photographic evidence of the extensive restoration and modification work.
CONDITION
The seller describes the Jaguar as being in concours condition.
The most recent inspection test was on 31 August 2023, resulting in a pass with no advisories.
SERVICE HISTORY
The seller states that the Jaguar has just been serviced at 1,200 indicated miles by a well-known Jaguar specialist in Denmark. This included an engine oil and transmission fluid change and the fitment of new oil filters.
