Seen on eBay, 9/23/05. Ad reads:

This gorgeous early model Jaguar XK120 has undergone a complete restoration done to original specifications. The car was restored to its original colors of Pastel blue with two tone blue interior. As we understand it has only been driven less then 700 miles since the restoration was completed. Some of the more recent work we did in the past few months includes the completely rebuilt cylinder head, with new guides, springs, valves and seats and complete rebuild of carbs. Some of the details of the major restoration completed in the mid 1990s are as follows: The body was completely disassembled and stripped to bare metal. The car then went through a two step primer process and finished with multiple coats of sealer and acrylic lacquer.
# The engine was completely rebuilt.
# Transmission has been completely rebuilt with new and rebuilt clutch assembly.
# All electrical systems have been rebuilt or are new. Including new wiring harness.
# New stainless steel exhaust system and re-porcelanized exhaust manifolds.
# Most chrome triple plated or has been replaced
# All suspension new
# The interior has all been done using high quality materials such as Connolly leather, vinyl and hardura as required with Dark Blue Wilton wool carpeting (it may look like a different color in the pictures because of the lighting, but in reality is dark blue and looks new and beautiful). The hood (top) is Stay-fast.

The numbers are as follows and it is a matching number car: VIN/Chassis: 671293, Engine Number: W3365-8, Body number: F3114 and Gearbox number: JH6268. Overall this is a stunning example that has been done to a very high quality. It would cost much more then the cost of the car to replicate a similar quality restoration today. The compression is perfect and was tested on 8/4/05: 1-130psi, 2-130psi, 3-130psi, 4-130psi, 5-130psi, 6-130psi. The CPI Book by Black Book has this car in #2 Excellent condition valued at $94,500. This car is available for much less and is a great investment grade car that will continue to go up in value. This fine automobile is available for inspection in Rochester, NY and by appointment only. If you have any questions please email us at:

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
