    Auction description:
    1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster
    2014 The Houston Classic Auction
    Lot Number 51
    ESTIMATE: $140,000 - $160,000
    CHASSIS NO: 671318
Matching Numbers, Original LHD California-Delivered Example, Offered Complete with Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, Striking in Presentation Throughout with Great Color Combination

Known alternatively as an XK120 Roadster or Open Two Seater (OTS), this matching numbers, original left-hand drive example was completed on June 20, 1951, and then shipped to Jaguar's West Coast U.S. distributor in Los Angeles, California, Charles Hornburg. Highly striking, its iconic sculpted bodylines are factory-correct, straight, and virtually flawless, with solid metal panels throughout and the factory-correct leaded body seams present where appropriate. Importantly, the XK120 remains completely rust-free. The black paint finish is polished to a high luster, complemented by high-quality brightwork and the sporting cockpit's excellent red leather upholstery. All gauges and instruments are good in appearance and work properly. The engine compartment and legendary "XK" engine are as nice as the exterior of the car, highlighted by the engine's highly polished cam covers. The chrome wire wheels are fitted with a set of Pirelli Cinturato 185-S16 radial tires and with its four-speed manual gearbox, responsive handling, and ample braking power, this race-bred XK120 is very fun to drive as expected.

Blessed with matching numbers and offered complete with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate confirming its authenticity, this excellent 1951 XK120 Roadster marks an excellent find for any collector seeking to add a high-quality sporting roadster to his or her collection. Accordingly, it is a wonderful example of one of the most desirable and influential postwar sports cars - bar none - ever produced.
