Seller's description:
This Jaguar XK120 OTS or roadster was originally built in September 1951 and shipped to Hoffman, New York, USA. Being an early car, it has separate chrome side lights, a stud less cam cover engine and the early dashboard. Little is known of this cars’ early life but it is believed that the car covered very few miles (fewer than 20,000 miles). It is understood that this XK120 was taken off the road due to a water leak from the engine fairly early in its life and remained in storage for many years.
Eventually this XK was sold to an enthusiast in the USA who began to restore the car but never got any further than repainting the rust-free body. In 1997 the car was imported to the UK by Twyford Moors as a complete car with the exterior chrome stripped off but in original condition and the mechanical parts still in place. The car was then sold to the current owner who set about restoring the car over the next decade.
With the car being in such good condition and rust free the body was not removed from the chassis. The extensive history file documents the restoration including photos of the car stripped and the chassis being cleaned and painted. The engine has been fully rebuilt along with a replacement block from a correct early XK120 engine. The car has been restored to a very original specification and has remained with the same owner since restoration.
