Seen on eBay on 02/02/2006. Item # 4609604439. Ad reads:
This gorgeous example has undergone a frame off restoration completed in 2005. The car was built in May of 1952. The first owner was an engineer from near Philadelphia who had the car until 1956. At that time the car had 30,000 miles on it and was sold to the second owner in September of 1956 for $1,600. The car was driven until 1975 and then the second owner transferred the car to his brother who was located in Virginia in late 1975. After this the car was driven for about 10 years it was then placed in storage in 1985 with about 62,800 miles on it. The car stayed in storage for 17 years. It was “rescued” by the third owners in 2002 and underwent a three year complete restoration that was completed in 2005. A Jaguar Archive Certificate is also included to confirm all numbers and authenticity. The numbers are matching. The engine was rebuilt prior to the restoration and only about 6,000 miles have been placed on it since the rebuild. The compression is excellent and the results are as follows; 1-130, 2-130, 3-135, 4-135, 5-130, 6-135. Also invoices are available going back almost 30 years.

This is a beautiful restored and investment quality car that runs and drives as good as it looks.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
