The car was purchased from Colin Tarren of the carriage company in Silsoe Beds in 1991 or 1992. I was told this was one of 7 cars imported by Charles Hornburg of LA and sent to George Barris, six were modified for racing and the seventh sold to Clark Gable.
The mods bear the Barris hallmarks:
Unique body louvres
Rear boot lid modification
Porsche 356 headlights
Rear wing modification
Buranni wheels
I had the car stripped of all paint and found a latter day poor repair to the NS front wing which I cut out and replaced. All mods had been very professionally carried out with very little lead loading.

I remember seeing a xk120 with similar body modifications at a house in Milpitas California in the late 1970's or very early 1980's. I had just started working in the Silicon Valley back then and a co-worked told me about the car, (and about a very nice black xk-140 coupe at a house not far from the xk120). I wonder what ever happened to those cars...
