Sold 8/19/2005 at Gooding & Co Pebble Beach for $68,750

Claimed to be a high point restoration, but showing age and use. Paint is presentable but no longer show quality. Some trim is oxidized and the passenger door fit is off a bit. Top bows are there but no fabric. Biscuit leather interior is very nice. Wind wings added. Engine clean and detailed. Additional cooling fan added. Heritage Trust certificate authenticates matching numbers.

The Monterey Sports and Classic Car Auction
Friday, August 19, 2005 - Saturday, August 20, 2005 [Print]
1952 Jaguar XK 120 Roadster
ESTIMATE: $70,000 - $90,000
CHASSIS NO: 673169
This lovely matching numbers white with biscuit XK 120 roadster has recently been the subject of a complete nut-and-bolt no-expense-spared restoration. The vendor purchased the Jaguar in partially restored but complete condition. He enlisted Mr. George Camp, a
Jaguar National Concours winning restorer, to oversee the completion of the restoration on the XK 120 roadster. Once completed, the car was shown at the April 2000 JCNA Southeastern Regional meet and it was awarded an impressive 99.22 overall. The main reason XK 120 Roadster did not score higher in the competition was due to the fact that the owner fitted a modern electric fan for additional engine cooling, and he elected not to fit a soft convertible top to the car since the Jaguar is always driven on sunny days.

The XK 120 has the desirable options of dual exhaust and wire wheels shod with five correct Dunlop tires. A Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate authenticating that it is a matching numbers example is included with the lot as well as its original tool roll and an original
owner’s manual. As well this beautiful example of one the archetypal 1950s sports cars is lovingly stored in a climatecontrolled garage when it is not being driven.

Sale 17327 - Exceptional Motorcars and Automobilia, featuring the Sidney H. Craig Collection and property from the Reggie Jackson Collection, 14 Aug 2009
Quail Lodge Resort and Golf Club, Carmel, CA
Lot No: 206•
1952 Jaguar XK120 Roadster
Chassis no. 673169
Engine no. W6607-8

The car offered here, chassis number 673169, was first delivered to the New York dealer, Max Hoffman, having rolled off the assembly line on November 13th, 1952. It was originally, as confirmed by the Browns Lane archives, green with a green interior and French grey hood. In 2000, in the hands of Dennis Dabney of South Carolina, the car was subject to a ground up restoration. The work, carried out by marque specialist, George Camp, included a color change to ivory with a tan interior, rebuilding the original engine, and featured the original factory options of wire wheels shod with correct Dunlap tires and dual exhaust system, as per the accompanying Heritage Certificate. A supplemental fan was added to the cooling system for increased efficiency. The car scored 99.22 points in JCNA judging.

The car, now in red, is offered with the original data plate, JCNA documents, correct and restored tool kit, and original owner’s manual, coincidentally printed on the date of the car’s manufacture.

Estimate: $60,000 - 80,000
