Auction description:
1952 JAGUAR XK120 ROADSTER
British Racing Green
Suede Green
3.4L
VIN 673378
Lot #08319
Beek en Donk, Brabant, Netherlands
A highly original and unrestored example of the classic open-top sports car, with a ‘numbers matching’ engine and a Jaguar production certificate.
Under the bonnet sits a 3.4-litre DOHC straight-six engine capable of producing around 160bhp, which is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
This XK120 Roadster’s odometer currently displays 69,847 miles, however this is not warranted.
The car is currently registered in Canada but is located in the Netherlands.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
This XK120’s Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace Certificate indicates that it is still finished in its original hue of British Racing Green, with Suede Green interior trim.
It rides on period-correct 15-inch steel wheels which are also painted green.
Inside the car features its correct Smiths dials and a painted dashboard.
The car’s heritage production certificate will be included with the sale of the car.
CONDITION
There are various dents and imperfections to the car’s bodywork, but it is not believed to have suffered from any serious impact damage.
Furthermore, the bodywork is showing various degrees of corrosion, and in some instances fresh metal may need to be welded in to return the car to its former glory.
The British Racing Green paintwork is in poor condition and is in need of full restoration, with various scratches, scuffs, chips, and areas of peeling around the car.
Inside, the cabin is in equally poor condition, and would benefit from a full restoration.
The underside of the car and the engine are both visible in the image gallery.
SUMMARY
This Jaguar XK120 Roadster represents the rare opportunity to purchase an authentic ‘numbers matching’ example of the marque’s renowned 1950s open-top sports car. While this example is in need of extensive work to bring it up to a good standard, it is undoubtedly a car worthy of restoration. The car could be mechanically improved and restored as a rolling restoration, or it could be sent directly to a marque restoration specialist to fully strip and restore this once beautiful Jaguar to its former glory.
