Ebay item 8/9/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1953-Jaguar-XK120-SE-Roadster-XK-120-/320738932691
Car has a buy it now price of $74,000 for 5 days.
Sellers description:
The XK 120 is an icon of the sports car in America, and the SE model is one of the most desirable. #673428 comes with the "Heritage Certificate" which confirms that it is an SE and a numbers matching car.
Finished in silver with black leather, fitted with 15" chrome wire wheels and "Lucas Flame Thrower" driving lamps. This car has been in the hands of the current owner for 25 years. We consider it to be a #4, as defined below. The flaws on this example are few and do not in any way detract from the drivability or cosmetic presence.
Many of you are familiar with Hagerty's "Cars that Matter", compiled and published by Dave Kinney. Using extensive data sources, he sets general values in each of four categories. The categories are:
#1 cars are the best in the world, perfect in every way.
#2 cars are former #1 cars and it takes a seasoned observer to find flaws.
#3 cars are nice, drive and run well, a casual passerby will not find visual flaws, defined as "good"
#4 cars are "drivers" with "some flaws visible to the naked eye, including pitting on the chrome (not so on this car), a chip on the windshield (not so on this car) or a minor dent or chips in the paintwork (yes). You might find a split seam in a seat or a dash crack on the interior (yes), ............no major parts are missing; however, components such as wheels might not be stock (yes, 15" wires, not 16") Fair is the one word that describes a #4 car. We feel that our car is a #4 car, and maybe a 4+ .
The body is sound and rust free. The paint is older but still great with a nice patina. The interior is good but not great. We have the top frame and a full tonneau. There is no canvas on the top frame. The wheels are 15" wires and not the 16" wires as original ........ most of those who choose to drive their vintage Jags agree that the wheel change is an improvement in overall handling.
In the most recent edition of the Hagerty Guide, May - August 2011, the valuations are: (1) 134,000 (2) 116,000 (3) 97,400 (4) 70,900. We have therefore set the "Buy it Now" is set at $74,000.

This XK120 has alot of issues such a s an amateur restoration from 20 years ago, a valve tap indicating an engine rebuild is in the future, or course oil leaks, wiring issues, incorrect interior, color change, incorrect driving lamps and wheels and much more. Well sold at any price near $65K.
