Exterior gray paint mostly all original with what appears some touch up on the lower rear wings and the spats may have been resprayed. The upholstery has been redone in biscuit leather and is very nice but not completely accurate.

This 1953 Jaguar XK120 roadster is finished in gray over tan leather and powered by a 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a tan soft top, a split front bumper, rear bumperettes, fender-mounted side mirrors, dual SU carburetors, and 16” steel wheels with whitewall tires. The car was manufactured on April 3rd, 1953 and slated for Personal Export Delivery through Charles Hornburg’s Los Angeles, California, Jaguar dealership. It was delivered to its original owner on April 10th, 1953 in Coventry, England, where it was first registered. After import to the US in 1964, the car was located in California where it is said to have been kept in storage from 1978 through 2015, and it was acquired by the seller in 2019. Service in the time since included refreshing the suspension and brakes, cleaning and synchronizing the carburetors, setting the timing, flushing the coolant, changing the oil, and replacing the oil-pan and camshaft-cover gaskets as well as the rear camshaft plug O-rings. This XK120 is offered with its original English license plates, a 1964 yellow-on-black California license plate, a factory chassis-lube gun, a tire pump, a jack, spat keys, side curtains, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in gray and features fender-mounted mirrors, a chrome split front bumper, a British Automobile Association badge, bumperettes, and removable wheel spats. A tan convertible top that was replaced under previous ownership is included along with removable side curtains.
Color-keyed 16″ steel wheels wear branded hub caps up front and are said to have been mounted with Firestone Deluxe Champion whitewall tires in 2012. A spare with a Dunlop Road Speed tire that is not known to have been replaced is stowed under a shelf in the trunk. Suspension service under current ownership included replacement of the the upper control arm, roll bar, and end-link bushings as well as the installation of adjustable Spax Krypton gas shocks up front. Brake service consisted of replacing the master cylinder and hoses as well as rebuilding the wheel cylinders. The steering system, wheel bearings, driveshaft, and leaf-spring gaiters have been lubricated.
The cockpit was reupholstered in biscuit leather by the car’s second owner, reportedly between 2015 and 2019. Equipment includes a heater, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a clock inset to the tachometer, a passenger-side grab handle, door-pull lanyards, and map pockets in both doors.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer, and fuel-level and coolant-temperature gauges as well as an ammeter. The five-digit odometer shows 38k miles, 150 of which were driven by the seller. The speedometer, tachometer, and clock were serviced in March 2022 at Foreign Speedo in San Diego, and the tachometer cable and cable drive seal were replaced.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six is equipped with dual SU H6 carburetors and an aftermarket fuel pump. Service under current ownership included cleaning and balancing the carburetors, cleaning and setting the points, flushing the coolant, changing the oil, and replacing the oil-pan and camshaft-cover gaskets, the thermostat, the spark plugs, and the rear camshaft plug O-rings. Oil seepage is noted from the front crankcase seal.
The number W8054-8 stamped on the cylinder head matches the number stamped on the engine block.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate shows the factory colors and identification numbers along with a build date of April 2, 1953, Personal Export Delivery status, and a dispatch date of April 10. The chassis, engine, and body identification numbers match corresponding stampings on the car, photos of which can be viewed in the gallery.
