This 1953 Jaguar XK120 roadster was completed in April 1953, sold new to a person in North Carolina, and is said to have remained under original ownership until its acquisition by the late owner in 1988. Power is supplied by a 3.4L inline-six with a replacement SE-spec cylinder head paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and the car is finished in red with a black soft top over black leather upholstery. Features include removable rear wheel spats, fender-mounted side mirrors, dual SU carburetors, and color-keyed 16” steel wheels. Work within the past year has reportedly involved cleaning the fuel system and carburetors, refurbishing the brakes, and replacing the tires, hoses, and fuel lines. This XK120 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the late owner’s estate with a JDHT Production Record Trace certificate, a tool roll, a Brooklands-style windscreen, handwritten maintenance records dating back to the early 1990s, manufacturer’s literature, and a California title in the name of the late owner’s revocable trust.
The bodywork was finished from the factory in Dove Grey and was reportedly repainted its current shade of red in the late 1980s. Exterior details include a black soft top, removable rear wheel spats, and fender-mounted side mirrors. Evidence of pitting on the brightwork is noted by the seller, as are various paint blemishes. A single Brooklands-style windscreen is included in the sale, along with two types of removable side curtains.
Color-keyed 16” steel wheels wear chrome trim rings and painted hubcaps and are mounted with 185-width radial tires that were installed within the past year, according to the seller. A spare is found in the rear storage area. The four-wheel drum brakes are said to have been refurbished in preparation for the sale.
The cabin houses seats and door panels that have reportedly been refurbished and trimmed in black leather. Appointments include black carpeting, a passenger-side grab handle, and a height-adjustable rearview mirror.
A black four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a central panel housing Smiths instrumentation including a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock, a 140-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer has been reset and shows approximately 17k miles; true mileage is unknown.
The 3.4L inline-six was reportedly rebuilt years ago and has been fitted with an SE-spec cylinder head. Dual SU carburetors are installed, and work conducted within the past year is said to have included cleaning the fuel system and the carburetors as well as replacing various hoses and fuel lines. The seller states that the cooling system has been refurbished, and the removed cylinder head will accompany the vehicle.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
The Production Record Trace certificate from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust shows the factory colors and identification numbers along with a completion date of April 10, 1953 and information about the original owner.
The car is titled using the engine number which is W8114-8; the chassis number is 673878. Cylinder-head stamping W7505-8S.

This is a re-list after the vehicle previously was sold on BaT in March 2023, though the transaction was mutually unwound by the buyer and seller following concerns over the car’s condition. The seller has provided an updated video detailing paint blemishes around the car, and subsequent maintenance has included the replacement of the tires and water pump and a rebuild of the carburetors. The winner’s buyer’s fee was refunded.
Otherwise same as above
