    Ebay item #4638450752 (May '06)
    Seller ad reads:
    Vehicle Description
The Jag XK 120 is considered the most important Milestone from either side of the Atlantic. This year Automobile Magazine named it one of the 10 greatest sports car of all time. This is one of the original 7,631 XK120 roadsters built between 1948 and 1954.------ There were 5 problems with the 120. Its handling was very heavy because its heavy engine sits on the front axle, its drum brakes were marginal, the electrical system gave a lot of problems, its 12 quart engine drank and threw out a lot of oil and it was not the easiest engine to keep in tune.------ With a '61 Corvette 283 V8 weighing 200 pounds LESS than the jag 6 and being 12 inches shorter, it does not sit on the front axle, thus making the steering much lighter, the Corvette engine is much more reliable than the Jaguar, and it keeps its 5 quarts of oil in the engine and not on your garage floor. It has a 350 turbo automatic trans. The front brakes are XKE discs so the car stops much better. The car has been completely re-wired with a new wiring harness. It has 15 inch chrome wire knock off wheels and radial tires.------- The body was sanded down to bare metal and skim coated about 4 years ago. The speedometer and tach have been changed to work with Corvette Engine (I have the original gauges). I have owned it for about 8 years. It was in a museum before I bought it. I just had the front bushing and upper and lower ball joints replaced.------- The car is beautiful and almost anyone would be proud to drive it. Although I drive it once a week, there are no mechanical problems that I know of that would prevent it from being driven daily.------- For those that must have the old 6 cylinder Jag engine, according to my mechanic, it can be brought back to a 3.4, 3.8 or 4.2 and 4 speed for less than $8,000, as there are plenty of donor MKs for sale.

    Sellers description from above auction:
1954 XK 120 2 Door Roadster w/ 1961 Corvette Engine and 350 Auto Transmission. Also known at XK120 OTS or Open Two Seater.

This is an authentic 1954 Jaguar XK120. I bought it with XK 150 front disc brakes and shocks, a 1961 Corvette 283 engine and turbo 350 automatic transmission. (The main complaint with the 120s is they steer like a truck and do not stop very well. With the Vette engine weighing 200 pounds lighter and sitting a foot farther back instead of right on the front axle, the steering is much lighter and with the improvements made in the disc brakes in the XK 150 it also stops much better.) With the hood closed it looks completely stock. Runs flawlessly, very reliable, without the headaches of the old V6 engine. In fact, with the V8 engine it is even more powerful and faster!

Diamond Pearl Silver paint with Red Leather interior. Mechanically excellent. As the pictures show, the body is straight and very clean. Needs very little to be mint.

I bought it 2 years ago from a wealthy friend in Hawaii where it sat in a museum for years. It has been babied and garaged in California for the last 2 years. Very little use and wear and tear for the last 14 years of history that I am aware of. Recently inspected and tuned up, ready for it’s next appreciative owner.

Most mechanical and body parts still readily available.

A beautiful and graceful vintage classic, always in demand. A great start to your vintage restoration project or just drive and enjoy as in, it’s in fine condition!

    New parts
    New wiring harness
    4 new wire wheels
    Radiator rebuilt/ re-cored
    New brakes/ master cylinder
    Steering wheel
    New brake rotors
    New brake pads
    New chrome grille
    New hood badge
    New wheel cylinders
    New edelbrock carburetor
    2 new horns
Less than 1000 miles on new tires

Comes with re-issue of original Jaguar Operating maintenance and service handbook and separate Wiring diagrams book for the restorer.

Car now said to be located in San Jose, California.

Opening bid $49,000, no reserve, no bids yet 4 days left in auction. Car now said to be in La Verne, California. 10k miles.

    Sellers description:
This gorgeous, rust free 1953 Jaguar OTS Roadster is finished in traditional Dove Pearl Grey paintwork with red (burgundy) leather interior and light grey carpeting (I recommend replacing the grey carpeting with original red Wilton carpeting). The car includes the following extras: new black tonneau cover, new black side curtains, original restored Shelley tire pump with new hose & polished brass, original red jack & jack ratchet tool, new grease gun (never used), Jaguar front plate, new chrome luggage rack, new leather bonnet strap, PF700 headlights, Lucas style PF700 driving lights and new chrome front fender mirrors, five 16” wire wheels fitted with Dunlop RS5 6-Ply biased tires speed rated for 130 mph. The car has a new chrome grill and nearly new chrome bright-work throughout. The car was restored several years ago and as of today shows 10,786 miles on the new speedometer. NOTE: this is an early 1953 and has the early-style "curved back" seats. I also recommend that door panel flaps be installed the same way as the original door panels (a very simple & inexpensive upgrade). The car also includes a Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate which shows this car was built May 19, 1953.

The car is powered by a professionally rebuilt 1961 Chevy Corvette 283 V8 engine with a 4 barrel carburetor and automatic transmission (with approximately 10,786 miles of use). The Chevy Corvette engine is more reliable and more powerful than the original Jaguar 6-cylinder engine and the automatic transmission makes driving in stop & go traffic a breeze! One of the two battery boxes was enlarged to accept a 12-volt battery. For additional safety the front brakes have been modified to newer XK150 disk brakes. The speedometer, tachometer & temperature gauges were replaced with Summit gauges designed to work with the Corvette engine. I was considering changing over to a JT5 5-speed transmission which would allow the use of an original XK120 speedometer and also changing over to an XK150 electric tachometer to make the gauges more original. Putting in 5-speed transmission would really be cool if you prefer a stick shift over an automatic.

This car is PERFECT for someone who wants a REAL almost mint condition Jaguar XK120 OTS roadster for DRIVING and not just for show. The car is RELIABLE and INCREDIBLY FUN TO DRIVE! Take the XK120 roadster out for a day of driving on the highways & byways with confidence that you will return home in the same car you left home in. BE PREPARED FOR LOTS OF HEAD TURNING, thumbs up and many, many compliments! A XK120 Jaguar roadster is meant to be ENJOYED not to just sit in a garage.
