This Jaguar XK120 is a left-hand-drive roadster that was built on January 19, 1954 and was acquired by the seller in 1978 and registered in 1980, reportedly following time in storage after an accident occurred under original ownership on Long Island, New York which damaged the right front fender. The car is finished in dark green over a black interior and powered by a numbers-matching 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. The front bumpers and the original windshield were removed, and dual racing screens have been installed. This XK120 OTS is now offered with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, a soft top and side curtains, removed parts, a service manual, a parts catalog, service records from 1980 onward, and a clean transferable New York registration.

The car underwent a color change from Birch Grey to dark green in 2008 and features headlamp stone guards and Brooklands-style dual folding windscreens. The seller states that the removed front bumpers and windshield have been rechromed and are included in the sale, as are side curtains and a soft top that is said to be worn and in need of re-covering. The right front fender was repaired after the original owner hit a tree. A dent is noted in the left front fender above the wheel well.

Silver-painted 16″ knock-off wire wheels are wrapped in Vredestein Sprint Classic tires measuring 135HR-16 all around.

The cockpit was originally trimmed in red and has been reupholstered in black with a matching dash, door panels, and carpets. Replacement seats and a 15″ steering wheel have been installed, and lap belts are provided for both occupants. The factory heater has been removed, although the seller notes the components are included with the car along with the removed factory seats and 16″ steering wheel. The seller also notes the seats are in need of new upholstery.

Central instrumentation consists of a reverse-sweep tachometer with an integrated clock, a 140-mph speedometer, and gauges for oil pressure, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows just over 13k miles, of which approximately 11k reportedly have been added by the seller.

The numbers-matching 3.4-liter inline-six was factory rated at 160 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque when new. The engine was rebuilt in January 2015 by Reward Service of Stormville, New York, and that same shop refurbished the starter and replaced the battery ground cable in 2016. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.

The engine is stamped with serial number F1794-8, which matches the information on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate and also on the identification plate in the engine bay. The cylinder head bears the same serial number.

Service records dating back to 1980 are included in the sale. The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate notes that the car was built in January 1954 with Birch Grey paint, a French Grey convertible top, and a red interior and was dispatched to New York that same month.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
