Ebay item 1/31/07

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XK-120-OTS-M-Jaguar-XK-120-1954-OTS-Concours-Road ...

Current bid $50,000 reserve not met, 1 bid, 9 days left in auction, Huntington Beach, California

Sellers description:

I purchased this XK-120 for my own personal use and to restore and show on the West Coast Concours circuit. It is not a composite of several cars that has been put together for resale, it is 99% original parts including correct numbers through out the drive train and chassis. Because I can not “bend” due to a back injury, I hope to sell this outstanding XK-120 to someone who will enjoy the thrill of owning and driving/showing it.

Some Major Details.

Engine: Complete engine, carburetors, head and transmission rebuild by “XK’S Unlimited to Coucours standards and specification. New S/S twin exhaust, porcelain coated headers.

Cooling: Original top and bottom pans with new high capacity core built in the original pattern. High flow fan keeps the engine running coolly.

Instruments: Tachometer, Speedometer, Temp/Oil all rebuilt. Even the clock words, recently repaired in Germany. The ammeter was not rebuilt.

Chassis: This was a true frame off, down to the nuts restoration. The frame is powder coated, fasteners, washer were all Cad plated before reassembling.

Suspension/Steering: All pieces were disassembled and powder coated. Rear springs and hydraulics were rebuilt. Spax shock absorbers on front. There is a slight leak of oil in the steering box following it rebuild.

Brakes: All new S/S brake lines. Master and all slave cylinders rebuilt with S/S sleeves. Backing plates and internals all powder coated. Brakes evenly and smoothly.

Electrical: Complete new wiring harness and connector blocks to original specs and pattern. Rebuilt generator by XK’S Unlimited. Two new 6 volt batteries in duel wells.

Cockpit/Seats: All metal parts are powder coated, including seat runners and frames. New wood floor panels and also wood for seat pans. Please refer to photos.

Upholstery: Done to Concours specs using true English hides and NOS wool. New canvas top with correct window and powder coated frame. Boot was done with Hardura.

Side Curtains: frames have been re-chromed, new fabric and new windows.

Chrome: Almost all pieces are original except for a few smaller pieces. All have been triple plated.

Wheels: Five new Daytona Chrome Wire wheels with five new

Michelin 185X16 radial tires.

It was during a trip to the United States that our collector found this XK 120 which was in Florida, at a specialist in Fort Lauderdale. It is also amusing to note that its previous owner bore the name Delahaye, as can be seen in the registration document. This car arrived in the collection in 2008 and the owner, having already restored several Jaguars and English cars, wanted an exceptional restoration for this XK 120. To do this, he entrusted it to a specialist he knew well who carried out a beautiful restoration. Unfortunately, the file of the restoration work has been lost, but we invite interested buyers to come and see the degree of the thoroughness of this restoration. The "old English white" paintwork is immaculate and the superb upholstery has been done in a two tone red and black leather, which suits this roadster beautifully. Additionally, the car has its original engine and cylinder head, as well as its correct body number. Our collector has carried out some improvements, such as the addition of two small USB sockets under the dashboard. The discretion of this operation testifies to the concern for perfection that guided the restoration of this car.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
