Car offered at:
used-cars-vans.vivastreet.co.uk/cars-sale-buy+margate/1954-jaguar-xk120-ots

Sellers description:
1954 Jaguar XK120 OTS, one family owned since 1966. Black plate California car all of its life. All part numbers are matching/original on the vehicle. VIN number F35508, Chassis number 675969, Body number F8251, Engine number F3550-8, Gearbox number JL23725. This car was used as a family hobby car, and was driven only on occasion until early 1982, and was then placed into storage. In 1991, the car received a full service, and was started up and driven for about 3 weeks and was then returned to storage until several weeks ago. In the past 2 weeks, the car has since been thoroughly serviced by a vintage jaguar specialist and once again runs very strong. The entire brake system has been renewed and the car runs, drives and stops as it should. Originally the car was white with red leather interior, but in 1970 was painted gun metal gray and the interior was done in heavy gauge vinyl. The car is complete with soft-top (original frame), side curtains and tonneau cover. The only parts missing is one of the rear fender skirts and the trunk knob handle, both easily obtained. There are a few dings in the body from normal use, however the car overall is in good, presentable condition. Even the leather around the rear springs is intact, and in good condition. This Jaguar XK 120 is a special edition of the record breaking car which achieved the speed of 132.6 mph at Jabbeke, Belgium, and of course has a clear title. Engine: six cylinder, in-line, double overhead camshaft, 3,442cc, c.200bhp at 5,200rpm; Gearbox: four speed manual; Suspension: front, independent with double wishbones and longitudinal torsion bars; rear, live axle, semi-elliptic leaf springs; Brakes: hydraulic drums all round. This car is an easy restoration, and a collector's dream to find such a rare, unmolested car, that does not require metal work, as there is no rust to be found. The lucky buyer will have the option of driving the car and embracing its wonderful patina, or embarking on an easy restoration to concourse standards.£29,950

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
